Haircare Routine for Healthy Hair | Home Remedies with Dancebee
Strong, luscious locks - a result of patience, nurturing and good hair care. Your hair needs all the goodness, in order to look healthy. While diet and other factors do play a crucial role, a basic haircare routine (using suitable products) also plays a key role. This is my haircare routine - simple head massage, using a blend of four oils, that I have been using on a fortnightly basis since age 16 (result of a random experiment, which worked wonders). It's an easy, fuss-free and inexpensive way to promote hair growth, keep it healthy and ensure your locks get some much needed pampering.
Ingredients: Coconut Oil (I use Parachute Advansed or regular Parachute Coconut Oil), Almond Oil (I prefer Dabur Almond Oil or Hamdard's Rogan Badam Shirin), Olive Oil and Castor Oil.
Process: Mix the first 3 oils in equal proportion, and only 2-3 drops of Castor Oil. Mix it up, and voila! Your potion is ready. Leave it on for 30 mins, and then, rinse using your shampoo (and follow it up with a conditioner / mask). Avoid leaving it on overnight. For best results, use as a pre-wash deep conditioning technique.
Tip: If you plan to store this in a bottle (for use upto 1-2 months), do not heat the oil. For those who are using this only once, the oil can be warmed in a small bowl (for approximately 30-45 seconds). Remember

Like most other children of the 90s, I have fond memories of being introduced to one of Garnier's most popular products - the Ultra Doux hair care range, at the age of 9. The signature fragrance of that hair care range and the iconic bottle is simply unforgettable. So, when the brand recently invited us for a sneak peek into their all new hair care range at an event in Mumbai, we were thrilled. More so, because it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate their new launch and get a little nostalgic too. After all, we've had several beautiful memories of holding that bottle, shampooing our hair (leaving the bathroom smelling all good) and flipping through our luscious locks as children. Honestly, the launch couldn't get better, as Garnier surprised us with a collection like no other.
Yes! You read that right. The brand launched an all new Garnier Ultra Blends range, which consists of five lovely blends, that cater to different hair types and problems. Much like their gorgeous range, the set up at this launch event too was one of a kind. We were mesmerised by the sight of the nature inspired decor and product counters with matching ingredients arranged in a wonderful way. After an introduction to the new launch, some trivia and a glimpse of the product campaign, we got a chance to go through the entire range, one by one.

Each blend is unique and different from the other, and aims at providing excellent results for the hair type that it caters to. For someone who is quite picky about the kind of ingredients used in a product, I was very happy with the detailed blend guide that is printed behind every bottle. It's always great to know what goes into the making of your go-to shampoo and conditioner. Plus, every scalp / hair type needs specific care. You cannot use a shampoo meant for oily scalp on an individual who has a normal scalp. The Garnier Ultra Blends range takes this important point into consideration, and has carefully combined blends to match every hair / scalp type.
Personally, I loved the Mythic Oil deep nourishing shampoo, which worked well for my hair. The texture of this shampoo is very rich (it's virgin olive oil, after all), with a lovely fragrance. It cleans the scalp well and leaves your hair feeling soft, nourished and silky. I am looking forward to trying this shampoo with the recommended conditioner, since I am quite happy with the results so far. Another favourite has got to be the Henna & Blackberry blend (quite uncommon from what we get to see in the market today), which has a divine aroma.

Packaging: Beautiful is the word. The Garnier Ultra Blends range comes in the iconic, beautiful bottle that Garnier is well known for. The bottle has a flip cap, which is handy. It's quite decent to carry as well, as the product does not spill out from the bottle.

Verdict: The products from this range have got everything that you need to flaunt naturally beautiful hair. Highly recommended for it's VFM, great packaging, perfect choice of ingredients and variety. Move over 'same old boring shampoos for all', because Garnier Ultra Blends has got something special for everyone and that too, beautifully blended with love.

Review | Bed Head TIGI Small Talk
While a whole bunch of ladies can't stop getting their hair straightened or colored, the other lot is ready to shell out any amount of money in order to get thicker, smoother hair with incredible volume. Well, hair rituals maybe a way out, but that cannot be your one stop solution. One needs a product that can not only add volume, but give some much needed life and energy to limp hair. The first time I came across Bed Head TIGI's Small Talk was at the LFW Apartment, during a makeover with the Bed Head team. This adorable little bottle may just be the magic potion you are looking for. So, we decided to try the Bed Head TIGI Small Talk for a fortnight and came up with an honest review.
Product: Bed Head TIGI Small Talk 3-in-1
Price: Rs 950
Quantity: 200 ml
What does it promise?: Thickifier - Adds body and volume,
Energizer - gives life to limp hair, Stylizer - Defines, separates and controls.
What works for us: This handy product comes in an adorable purple bottle, with a neon green pump (again, extremely handy). Anywhere between a pea or hazelnut size should be enough for hair below shoulder length. If you keep in mind the quantity, amount used and price, the product sure is value for money. We like how the product not only adds volume, but also makes your hair smooth. A normal blow dry after use should be enough to make the product work wonders. You will notice how your hair doesn't clump up. The light consistency of the product will not weigh your hair down, which means, it is perfect to use even during those hot, humid afternoons. Another win-win is that the product smells good, with a mix of grape and blueberry. Small Talk is a miracle product for limp, flat hair.
What doesn't work for us: Nothing to do with the product, but the lack of instructions on the bottle might be a problem for some. Maybe!
Verdict: During the review period, a pea sized amount was enough for my hair to look fuller and shinier throughout the day (after a normal blow dry). I stepped out for several interviews and meetings during the afternoon, but the humid weather didn't affect my hair, nor did the product make it greasy. The product didn't make my locks stiff, but did add a nice texture (despite the fact that I changed my hair style twice - thrice on some days). We highly recommend this magic potion, Small Talk, that does yield big benefits!

The Moroccan Oil Event
Last week, I was invited to the MoroccanOil event and product launch. Being a self confessed fan of their argan oil treatment, I was looking forward to the launch. I've been using the MorrocanOil treatment for quite sometime, and must say, the results have been pretty good. The venue, Tote on the Turf, was decorated in hues of blue, white and orange. Pretty little silver lanterns, with a bottle of their popular MoroccanOil original treatment, adorned the center tables. Let's take a look at how the event unfolded (there is also an interesting video to watch out for).
Review | New Dove Split End Rescue System
It's Easter Sunday! Here's wishing all the amazing readers Happy Easter. May god bless you all with happiness and lots of love. Dove recently launched a new range, which focuses on repairing the split ends of your hair. We know that 'split ends' is of the biggest concerns for a girl, especially those who have long hair. As the length of your hair increases, the tips of your hair become more prone to damage. With new products under the split end rescue system range, Dove promises to give your hair a beautiful ending. But, has it managed to pass the Dancebee's test? Read the review to find out.
Dove claims: The Split end rescue system has 1/4 moisturizing milk, which nourishes your hair and it's breakthrough split-end technology corrects hair damage to give you up to 4x less split-ends.
My experience: The Dove team emailed me to inform that they will be sending a sample of their new range. Must say, I was impressed with the packaging of the products. Being a fan of their Daily shine range, I went ahead and decided to try the split-end rescue system shampoo and conditioner. For this review, the products were tried for a period of 15 days. Although the tips of my hair are not prone to much damage, the current weather in Mumbai has resulted in my hair becoming very dry and rough. The shampoo smells a lot like the other Dove shampoos (its not very strong) and lathers up pretty well. The conditioner is light and not very greasy. After using the shampoo-conditioner combo for a few days, I could feel that the tips of my hair were softer (compared to what it was a few days back). The only problem here is that although my hair looked shiny, it left my scalp slightly dry.
Pros
- Affordable, as is the case with all the Dove shampoos and conditioners
- Good fragrance, which lingers on for quite sometime
- Conditioner is light weight and non greasy
Cons
- Might leave your scalp dry
- Can Dove do something about those Silicones? Please?
Price: Shampoo - 80 ml for Rs 68, 180 ml for Rs 132, 650 ml for Rs 349
Conditioner - 70 ml for Rs 68, 170 ml for Rs 132
Value for Money: Yes! Dove products are reasonable and well priced.
Final verdict: Don't think twice. Buy the split end rescue range if you have always wanted to get rid of your split ends. But if you are looking for a daily use shampoo, then you have better options in the market.

Divo and Dermalogica India - Blogger's Meet
The first blogger meet of 2013 for me turned out to be the one organized by Divo and Dermalogica India at ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton, Mumbai. Once again, an amazing opportunity to meet fellow fashion and beauty bloggers. The 3-hour event was filled with some amazing moments, right from bumping into a college junior to learning hair and skin care tips from experts in the house.
