Dancebee Beauty | Skincare Talk - Mitchell USA (Review)
Winter is upon us, and those with normal to dry skin have already begun prepping up for the dry, harsh weather ahead. While the market is packed with an array of skincare products, it can be quite overwhelming to choose what suits our skin type and concern. However, we are fans of brands that focus on specific concerns and highlight them prominently. One such brand happens to be Mitchell USA, that was launched recently in India. With a strong focus on anti-ageing, pigmentation, discolouration among other concerns, some of the skin care products by Mitchell USA look quite promising, especially for the ongoing season.
Recently, the brand invited us to try some of their latest beauty products. Since I did not fit the requirement for these products, which mostly focus on anti-ageing (and I strongly believe it is important for me to present an honest opinion for you guys), I decided to invite a close friend for this experiential. Over a period of 7 days, she tried some of the products from the brand's ' Age-Less' range. Here's presenting an introduction to the brand, along with a 'tried and tested' honest review.

What? - Mitchell USA Age-Less range of products
Price: Rs 550 onwards
What do they promise? - Mitchell's age-less range is your non-invasive solution for tightening, lifting skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin tone.
Ingredients: The age-less product range contains Lotus BioRepair MT Complex, which combines extracts from Sacred Lotus Seed (which the brand claims is approximately 1288 years old), with peptides, antioxidants, amino acids, anti-inflammatory botanicals and algae extracts
Tested on: Female, 35-year-old (name with held on request)
Skin Type: Combination
Test period: 7 days (One week)
Product Trial & Review (as stated by our volunteer): Before starting off with this trial, I went through the product details of each item to understand the concern it targets. According to the brand, the range is curated and crafted specially for Indian skin type and tone. After understanding all the products, I created two regimes, one each for day and night.
Day Regime: I start off by using the Papaya Brightening Cleanser. It promises to refine pores and leave the skin feeling smooth. The texture is creamy, and naturally, it has a fruity fragrance. I like massaging this cleanser on my face for sometime, before rinsing it off. The product did not dry out my skin, which helps. The fragrance was a bit too fruity for me, but the cleanser did a decent job. This was followed by the Lift & Firm Tightening Serum. A little bit of this product goes a long way. Lastly, I used the Skin Energiser Peptide Cream. Although the texture was smooth and creamy, it absorbed very well. The fragrance is subtle, which I like. It hydrates pretty well and creates a good canvas for make up as well.
Night Regime: After removing my make up, I cleanse my face with the Papaya Brightening Cleanser. This is followed by the Lift & Firm serum. I used the Night Therapy Anti-Wrinkle cream, which has some good repair and nourishment properties, which works well on your skin overnight. I like to massage this product all over my face, leaving the eye & neck area. Then, I used the Lineless Eye complex, which is an excellent under eye serum and one of my favourite products from the range. It helps reduce puffiness and minimises fine lines. Finally, I massaged the neck area with Neck Therapy Refining Cream. Neck is usually the most neglected area, and it helps that they have a product dedicated to it, which helps in improving the skin texture and firmness. Twice a week, I used the Skin Polish Exfoliating Cream (I skip cleansing, as this one does a fine job anyway). It's a creamy, grainy exfoliator. The product is wonderful, as it helped remove all the excess dirt, sebum quite efficiently. All the creams, including the exfoliator, have a standard fragrance, which is subtle.
Post Trial Experience: A week is not enough to understand the way a product works on your skin. It takes a good amount of time for them to work their magic. However, while sticking to our deadline, there are few things that I did notice. Firstly, the eye serum was fabulous! It helped reduce the puffiness to a good extent. Also, it hydrated the eye area really well. Secondly, I loved the neck therapy cream. It hydrates the neck area and works well to improve the skin texture. I am sure there will be a visible difference with continuous use. Definitely a favourite, and I will be re-purchasing it for sure. Lastly, Peptide hydration cream is a good addition to your daily regime for winter. It moisturises the skin really well and keeps it supple for a good number of hours. Another product that I wouldn't mind repurchasing. The cleanser was just like any other, and the fragrance kind of put me off. So, that's not on my favourites list. The night therapy cream was also pretty good.

Final Verdict: Overall, it was a decent experience. The range scores full marks in the hydration, packaging and quality space. Wish they go a little easy on skin brightening.

The Fruit Crush | Lakmé Lip Love Review
Summer maybe over, but our affair with summery fresh products shall last a little longer. After introducing the first Lip Love range with six shades last year, Lakmé introduced three new fruity shades in May this year. The new Lakmé Lip Love range, with actress Shraddha Kapoor as the face of it's campaign, promises to give a fresh tint with long lasting nourishment and a fruity fragrance to go with it. We tested the new variants and here's what we think about it. Read on!

What? - Lakmé Lip Love
What does it promise? - Hydrate your lips with Lakme Lip Love’s fruity hues to make them beautifully tinted while protecting your lips from sun damage.
Quantity: 3.8gm
Price: Rs 200
Shades: Raspberry, Tangerine and Blackcurrent

Packaging: Plastic twist up tube in colours that match the tint and flavour. The plastic cover of the tube is very delicate, and may break if you drop it anywhere. So, do handle it with care. The packaging is travel friendly.
Our experience: True to their promise, the Lakmé Lip Love range is indeed very creamy and nourishing. These tinted sticks are nothing like the others available in the market. Some of them tend to get sticky and dry up after a few hours, and are impossible due to use in a humid climate. But, the Lakmé Lip Love passed this test successfully, even when the temperature went up to 43 degrees during our trip. The texture is smooth and glides on easily. The tinted stick centre is rich and creamy, which leaves your lips feeling hydrated. The tints are subtle. Perfect for a day when all you need is a natural look with a slight tinge of colour on your lips. Our favourite has to be Raspberry, but even Black current is quite interesting, as it leaves a nice hue of purple. Tangerine is very summery, and has a refreshing fragrance as well. The price is similar to other competitors of the product available in the market, but what gives the Lakmé Lip Love an edge is the fact that it is a dual core lip balm. It focuses on both hydration as well as leaving a tint, and also comes with SPF 15. So, you don't have to buy a separate lip product for other concerns. This one does a good job of taking care of it all.

Verdict: Once again, Lakmé has impressed us with their lip care range. With the right amount of care and a nice tint, the Lakmé Lip Love gets a thumbs up from us. Ditch your super shiny, sticky and boring lip balms for this already!

Nivea Protect and Care Range | Review
We love the signature fragrance of Nivea creme. The delightful, distinctive fragrance of the rich and creamy product has been an important part of our lives since childhood. No winter was complete without lathering up on some of that creme. And it gave our face, elbows, feet some much needed pampering after a long day out. Fortunately for us, the brand recently launched an all new range with the fragrance of NIVEA Creme. It includes a deodorant and roll-on, packed in the signature blue colour that the brand is known for. Read on to know our take on this range.
What? - Nivea Protect & Care Range (Deodorant and Roll-on)
Price - Rs 199 (Deo) and Rs 185 (roll-on)
Quantity - 150ml (Deo) and 50ml (roll-on)
What they promise? - Nivea protect & care is the only deodorant / roll on with precious ingredients and fragrance of Nivea creme. It protects against body odour and cares for your delicate underarm skin. The product contains 0% alcohol and can be used directly after shaving.
Our experience - The new range by Nivea falls under the extra care product category, where gentle care of the underarm skin has been given prime importance. During the trial period, we used the deodorant and roll-on alternatively. While the signature Nivea fragrance lingers on for sometime and adds a sense of freshness, the products suffer a major setback in sweat resistance. When compared to their other deodorants / roll-ons like Fresh Natural, the protect & care range is not what you would want to pick on a hot afternoon, especially in Mumbai. But, it did leave the underarm skin feeling fresh and smooth, just like one would after applying the Nivea cream (minus the greasiness). The subtle Nivea creme fragrance stays on for a good 4-5 hours. In addition, we also like how it does not irritate the skin, especially after a waxing / shaving session. This is definitely the product's biggest pro! Packaging wise, it is similar to all the other deodorants and roll-ons by the brand (deodrant can and glass roll-on bottle respectively) and we love how their colour matches the big blue Nivea creme jar. The pricing is decent.
Final Verdict: The perfect pick for those with sensitive skin. Nivea's protect & care range is a must buy if you love the signature Nivea creme fragrance. Also, if you underarm skin needs some gentle care. A good buy for the upcoming Monsoons. But if sweat resistance is what you have been looking for, give it a skip and opt for the Fresh natural range.

In this post, I will be talking about three products from the range: Lever Ayush Keyur Poshak
Shampoo, Lever Ayush Bhringamalakadi Tailam and Lever Ayush Suvarna Poshak Cream.
Lever Ayush Keyur Poshak Shampoo (Price: Rs 310, Quantity: 200ml): The consistency of the shampoo is thick. It has a pleasing herbal fragrance, which is not very strong. The shampoo promises to strengthen your hair roots, ends and leave it feeling shiny, smooth. Although it also claims to include both the goodness of a shampoo and conditioner, my hair felt a little dry without following it up with a separate conditioner. During the second wash, I used the shampoo with a conditioner and the results were perfect. The shampoo does a good job of cleansing the scalp well and does add a nice shine.
Lever Ayush Bhringamalakadi Tailam (Price: Rs 599, Quantity: 100ml): This product was tried by one of our volunteers, a 44-year-old female, with issues of hair fall and premature greying. The hair oil promises to prevent premature greying, baldness, darkens hair and promotes growth. After 2 weeks of regular application (twice a week), we could notice how our volunteer's hair became more luscious and her hair fall had reduced by a good 30 %. Although its too early to talk about the effect it has on premature greying, we definitely feel this oil is one of their star products.
Lever Ayush Suvarna Poshak Cream (Price: Rs 210, Quantity: 50g): This ayurvedic face cream promises to keep blemishes at bay and maintain your original complexion, while making your skin soft and smooth. It also claims to add a subtle glow post application. Again, the product was tried by a volunteer, this time, a 21-year-old female took up the challenge and tested the product regularly for a period of 2 weeks. A small dollop of the cream was massaged gently all over the face and neck. The product was used once a day, for two weeks. The texture of this cream is very smooth, almost silky and feels a lot like talcum powder on the fingertips. The fragrance is strictly okay. While the cream does a decent job of hydrating, it may not be the ideal face cream for winter. The cream gets absorbed quite well and as promised, leaves a subtle glow. Its perfect for all skin types. Though, a little too early for us to judge the 'blemish-free' claim, the Suvarna Poshak cream makes for a strictly average buy.
Verdict: The Lever Ayush range of products do a great job of providing good quality Ayurvedic products at a cost that does not burn your wallet. While we are yet to try most of the joint and other pain easing range of products, we did test the Headache Nashak Roll-on, which is perfect for those who hate balms. Plus, the solution is not very strong, and eases headache quite effectively. From the skin / hair care range, our favourite, most effective product till now has been the Bhringamalakadi Tailam. Even for those who don't suffer from hair issues, a gentle massage with this oil can do wonders to your body. It helps ease stress and transports you to the world of Ayurvedic spas. Overall, we recommend you choose the right set of products and give the Lever Ayush range a try. Zero harmful ingredients, no overpowering fragrances; just the goodness of Ayurveda.

Thalgo Rituals at Jean Claude Biguine | Review
Known as a popular skin care brand, which has been around since 1964, Thalgo recently partnered with one of our favourite chain of salons - Jean Claude Biguine. The collaboration presents an exclusive range of facials and rituals, which aims at detoxfying, hydrating and soothing your skin from within. Each skin service is designed keeping in mind different age groups, skin types and concerns, which is perfect, because the wrong facial can often damage your skin on a long term basis. I was invited to experience any one of their Thalgo skin services and since I had a day packed with meetings in and around Lower Parel, I picked the Palladium JCB branch and opted for an evening slot, so that I could head back home early and chill (before getting ready for another super long day). Read on to know my experience, the ritual chosen for me and our final verdict on the facial menu.
After a warm welcome, the JCB treatment specialist - Juliet, took me to the treatment room, where after a quick chat about my daily routine and lifestyle, Juliet analysed my skin, to understand the main concerns. Since I have never got a facial done (Yes! Never, and I don't think I will opt for it anytime soon), Juliet further discussed my skincare routine and came to the conclusion that a ritual would be better than a facial, since my skin is too young and the main concern is only hydration (I have normal - dry skin, which is extremely sensitive). Juliet suggested that we opt for the Source Marine Ritual (details given below), an hour long treatment that helps soothe and hydrate the skin from within. After a quick change, the lights were dimmed and with an ocean themed track playing in the background, I was ready to get transported to a wonderful world of virgin beaches, islands and a vast ocean.
Ritual: Thalgo Source Marine - deep hydrating and replenishing treatment, the result is a healthy glow by creating a well of vital water in the deeper layers of your skin.
Price: Rs 4000
Experience: The first step of the ritual was to tie a the towel into a turban around my head. After cleansing and thoroughly cleaning my face, the therapist created ocean wave like movements using her hand and kept moving it next to my ears, in order to ensure that I relax my body, mind and soul. The turban ensured that I hear nothing but the ocean waves. After a few minutes, the Thalgo reviving marine mist (my favourite product from the entire ritual) was gently sprayed all over my face, neck and shoulders. A few minutes of gentle massage and ocean wave movements were followed by the usual steps of a clean up - exfoliate, steam and removal of blackheads. Keeping my sensitive skin type in mind, the scrub used for the procedure wasn't harsh and the micro beads gently did its job. What followed the exfoliation process was another round of mild cleansing, and then a fantastic dry massage (that almost put me off to sleep). Once again, the mist was sprayed and after drying my face with a tissue, the therapist prepared the marine mask. A thick layer of the mask (the fragrance of which made me feel like I am scuba diving at a virgin beach of Konkan and being the water baby that i am) was gently and generously applied all over my face and neck. While the face mask did its job, the therapist again continued the ocean wave - like movements. A few minutes later, the mask was peeled off and after a final round of cleansing, the mist was sprayed once again. The therapist advised that I must not follow up with any moisturiser, and keep the skin free from any product for the next 10 - 12 hours. While treating myself to a cup of lemon tea after the ritual, I noticed how my skin felt hydrated and relaxed, just like it would after a good vacation.
What? - Thalgo Skin Services at Jean Claude Biguine
Price range - Rs 2200 and above
What does it promise? - Restore your radiance and reveal younger-looking skin with customised facials. Jean-Claude Biguine will offer treatments by French beauty brand Thalgo (www.thalgo.in), using its marine-based skincare and body-care products. Thalgo is also an exclusive brand partner at Jean-Claude Biguine for the facial menu, which is divided into three distinct categories: Essential, Exquisite and Anti-Ageing. In addition to the Thalgo facials above, JCB will also offer unique Thalgo Eye Treatments to minimize all signs of fatigue, strain and ageing (additional charges apply). The treatments range from around 30 - 75 minutes and cater to specific age, skin type and concerns.
Services available - Essential: Instant Radiance Facial, Aquarelle Regenerating Facial, Source Marine Ritual, Pure Freshness Ritual | Exquisite: Brightening Rejuvenating Treatment | Anti - Ageing: Collagen Smooth Treatment, Silicium Super Life Treatment | Facial Add-on: Collagen Velvet Eye Expert.
Verdict: I was very happy with the ritual. It left me feeling lighter and my skin got enough hydration before the winter spell in Mumbai. It's like a mini vacation for your skin packed into an hour long ritual. The prices may look a bit on the expensive side, but your skin is a precious gift and these rituals are worth every penny that you spend. A deep berry pink with hints of silver shimmer, this one is a stunner. I love it for the glittery part ( I love most things shiny!). The texture is smooth and about two swipes can give a subtle color, good enough for the day. The best part about this fine piece of makeup is that it is non-greasy, so the summer fall heat can seldom melt it away.
Nude Beige - Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte
Nope, this nude will not make your lips disappear into your face. A beige with a tint of pink, a spot of shine and warm undertones, this one is anything less of a typical nude boring shade. It's creamy with a hint of a raspberry scent. And the packaging is nothing short of royalty! Yup, I love this one!

This one has been around for a while and is a clear winner when it comes to bold colours. Dark and berry-striden and enriched with a creamy texture, this one is worth every bit of that large hole in your wallet afterwards.
Zenith - MAC Guo Pei Collection
Save the best for the last? MAC is the reigning queen of lipstick brands and love adding a twist to their collections. Guo Pei, China’s famed haute couturier, joined hands with MAC to bring some beautiful jewel tones and rich neutrals. My favorite is the long lasting creamy nude, Zenith. Perfect for all occasions and all times of the day. And do not miss the gorgeous packaging.
While most of these lipsticks are not available in the Indian market, you can always ask your friends and relatives to get them for you during the next trip abroad. After all, you can never have enough lipsticks (not when they are winning both in the colour and packaging department).

It's rare for someone like me (with sensitive skin) to come across a scrub that is not just gentle, but also extremely hydrating. So far, I have always stayed away from trying body scrubs, because they often lead to de-hydrated, dry skin. And when The Body Shop recently launched their all new Fuji Green Tea collection and sent us products from the range, I thought I'll give the scrub a miss. But while checking out the texture of each product, I was quite impressed with this scrub and curious to know if it will change my perception. Curious that I am, I decided to take a risk and test The Body Shop's Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub. The result (and honest opinion) - I am hooked, and how!
What? - The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub

What does it promise? The product perfect for cleansing and exfoliating, the crisp and refreshing scent of Fuji Green Tea™ Body Scrub helps to lift away dead skin cells, detox the body, and prepare skin for moisture. The Green Tea range of products helps in lifting away dead skin cells. Infused with replenishing green tea from Japan, which helps you get healthy looking skin. Enriched with Community Fair Trade Honey from Ethiopia.
How to use? - Use a spatula or spoon to get the required amount of product in your hand (I prefer using it this way, as it does not waste any product and this process is hygienic). Apply to damp skin in a circular motion, then rinse thoroughly for refreshingly smooth skin. For best results, use two to three times a week.
Packaging: A sturdy plastic jar, which is transparent (and cute). The product is easily visible through this jar, so you can keep a tab on the amount that you are using. The metallic cap fits well and ensures that the product does not spill. Safe to carry while traveling.
Texture: Smooth, gel based scrub with micro-granules. The granules are not harsh and the product is extremely light weight.
Overall Experience: This is exactly what I was looking for! A light weight, gentle scrub that does its job well, without drying your skin out. Right from the delightful fragrance to the texture, packaging and introducing a refreshing ingredient like the Fuji Green Tea, The Body Shop has nailed it in every department. The product starts working the moment you start massaging it on your body in the shower. Within minutes, you start feeling relaxed, hydrated and squeaky clean; all this, right after the first use! 2-3 trials later, I was in love. I noticed that the scrub helped in exfoliating and ensuring that my skin remains soft, while getting rid of the dead cells (this is where the gel + micro-granules formula comes to the rescue) and even some pesky in-growths. What’s also amazing is the fact that a little product goes a really long way, which means, the jar will last you for a good 6-7 months, depending on the way you use it. Honestly, using this scrub feels like a trip to the spa. And the best part? It works well on all skin types. One of our team members, who has oily skin, tried the scrub and made a trip to the TBS store to pick up her own jar. Now you know what I mean by getting hooked on, right?
