27 Years of DDLJ | Top Moments from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
One of Hindi cinema's most iconic romantic movie has completed 27 years! 27 years?!? Wow, that's a long time. We have loved, lived and laughed with this film since 1995, a year, when most of the 90s children were tiny tots (or yet to be born) and our parents lovingly took to us to watch this one helluva film, without knowing that it will stay with most of us for life. Yes, we are talking about the much loved - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge - Aditya Chopra's directorial debut. Interestingly, the film is all set for a musical adaptation, which shall be helmed by Chopra himself, thus making it his broadway directorial debut. While the casting is underway, it is said that the musical shall bring together Indian and American teams. The musical will premiere very soon. Best news ever? Yes!
Rarely do films create such an impact, that their dialogues go on to become an integral part of our lives. C'mon, I am quite sure most of us would have said "Palat" or "Ja Simran Jaa, jee le apni zindagi" in between casual conversations (or best, to pull someone's leg). And what do I say about the legendary Maratha Mandir? The place has become a temple for most DDLJ fans, who hang around to buy tickets and make their mornings special with this romantic saga, which happens to be Aditya Chopra's directorial debut. It may just be a film for some, a romantic bible for a few others, but for those who have seen it umpteen number of times (and add to that, woke up early to catch the matinee show at Maratha Mandir), it is much more than just a film. It is a gift that they will cherish for several years to come. Well, that just explains the reason why even after 19 long years, the film continues to see a decent turn out, everyday, at Maratha Mandir, and has completed a legen (wait for it) dary 1000 week run.

Not just with the film, but with its ensemble cast, moments, dialogues songs and of course - Raj and Simran.

Rani Mukerji's Hichki to release in Taiwan
Rani Mukerji’s heart-warming film Hichki, which released in India earlier this year and earned immense acclaim for the actor's incredible act, has now become a worldwide success story. Given the universal appeal of the film, Hichki has been released in several key countries across the world and has opened to a good response. Now, the film is all set to release in Taiwan on November 2, 2018. The movie is being re-titled as ‘My Teacher with Hiccups’ for the Taiwanese audience.
The film’s Taiwanese poster also has a motivating thought written on it. It reads – ‘Never limit yourself, don’t be afraid, even though you have some inborn disability’. So far, Hichki has had an international release in Russia and Kazakhstan, and now, it is expected to wow audiences in Taiwan. The film is also releasing in Hong Kong on November 8 and China on October 12. Mukerji, who earned accolades and even awards for her flawless performance, plays Naina Mathur, a school teacher dealing with an involuntary nervous system disorder - Tourette Syndrome. The film has been widely loved by audiences and critics alike across the world.

On The Sets | Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra explore the Indo-Nepal border
If Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra's respective Instagram accounts (and stories) are anything to go by, it is clear that the duo are having a great time shooting for their next - Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar. Currently in its second schedule, the cast and crew are shooting for the film at Indo-Nepal Border, making this entertaining thriller the only flick ever to be shot at this location.
Kapoor and Chopra are currently undergoing what is said to be the most challenging shooting experience of their respective careers. Film maker Dibakar Banerjee has taken the lead actors of his directorial, to shoot at the international border of India and Nepal, that is constantly under radar for illegal immigration. In addition, the actors have been filming crucial portions in day and night shifts, amidst freezing temperatures that often go down to 0 degrees.
“Dibakar is filming extremely intense and gritty portions of the film at the Indo-Nepal border. The portions will show the tension between Arjun and Parineeti’s character. These are crucial and defining moments of the film. The area where the two are shooting is exactly at the border and is constantly under alert for illegal immigration and smuggling. People use an inflated rubber tube as a flotation device on the Kali river at the border and make this risky crossing in the thick of a wintry night. So, shooting has been quite difficult. Local authorities have been of tremendous help providing the crew with assistance and necessary security,” informs a source close to the film.
This new information builds more curiosity around the thriller! Knowing Dibakar, is he exploring and filming something around the theme of smuggling with the two lead characters of the film? Guess we won’t know these details anytime soon, and will have to wait till August for answers.
Meanwhile, the shooting schedules of Yash Raj Films’ Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has been quite adventurous in many ways. The cast and crew braved the Delhi smog during a schedule in the capital city. Next, the film’s crew shot important portions in Jhulaghat - a village in Uttarakhand, which may face the risk of being completely submerged underwater because of the construction of a dam. If it becomes a reality, Banerjee’s film will end up being the only one to have a visual record of this quaint town on the big screen.
Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar will have Kapoor essaying the role of a Haryanvi cop, while Chopra steps into the shoes of an ambitious corporate. Both the actors have reunited after their 2012 hit - Ishaqzaade. The film is scheduled to release on August 3, 2018.

Befikre | Film Review
Be carefree, live carefree and love carefree they said. And that's exactly what Dharam and Shyra choose to do in Befikre. Aditya Chopra's new age rom-com starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor released today and needless to say, attracted it's target audience (mostly youngsters) in large numbers. But does it live up to all that it promised in the trailer? Read on to find out.
Trailers and teasers can be deceptive at times, and there is a lot more to Befikre than all that you saw in the film's official trailer. Set in the backdrop of Paris - one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Befikre celebrates love, albeit with a twist. It is this very unique approach, despite the predictable plot, that keeps you engaged. The film opens with a song shot in the bylanes of Paris, celebrating carefree love. It's like a new age version of Dil Toh Pagal Hai's Ek Duje Ke Vaaste. Our lead protagonists here are brazen, wilful and fun. Dharam (Ranveer Singh) is a Delhi wala Munda, who lands a job at the Delhi Belly Club in Paris. He prefers to maintain distance from any form of commitment and instead, hangs out to woo girls, failing at every single attempt. Enter Shyra (Vaani Kapoor), the 'Born Punjaban, but dil se French' no-nonsense girl, who likes to work hard and party harder. The two meet at a party and a few encounters later, decide to live-in together, keeping the pressure of marriage, love and commitments away. The bindass duo dare each other, make out in the middle of nowhere and attempt bizarre acts. When not busy with their 'Labon ka Karobar', Dharam works as a stand up comedian, while Shyra is a tour guide.
They live and enjoy every moment in the present, until some turn of events changes their relationship. Lust makes way for friendship, and the exes choose separate paths in their respective lives. But, will they ever come together for love? That's for you to find out.

Befikre is a no-nonsense histoire d'amour (love story). Dharam and Shyra are nothing like Raj - Simran or Veer - Zaara. 'Saat janamon ka saat' is not their thing, as they like to do things differently. And that's exactly where the target audience - especially the millenials, find an instant connect. However, it would be unfair to not mention that both Dharam and Shyra have a romantic streak in them, albeit a unique one. The film is a breakaway from the traditional school of romance in Hindi films. A few examples - the dashing heroine does not shy away from kissing the guy first. A mom and daughter scene, where the mother encourages her 'beti' to defy all odds and take the right stand. Best one? The hero calling up his girl and requesting her to save him from a crisis, instead of the other way around. Film Maker Aditya Chopra means business when he says his lead couple are 'Befikre'.
Ranveer Singh as the unabashedly real Dharam is incredible. The actor knows how to get into the skin of his character and become one with his on-screen avatar. Needless to say (or if I may quote a girl sitting behind me) Ranveer is a treat watch in almost every single frame. His energy is extremely infectious and the actor charms his way into your heart. Ranveer nails every nuance of his character perfectly and it won't be wrong to say that he is the real soul of this film. For her second outing after Shuddh Desi Romance, Vaani's performance was decent and she does good justice to the personality of her character. Apart from the lead, full props to casting director Shanoo Sharma for getting together the perfect ensemble cast.
The soundtrack of Befikre, composed by Vishal - Shekhar, grows on you when played on loop. Especially Nashe si, which has been a personal favourite ever since it came out. Mikey McCleary's BG score is ho-hum. Aditya Chopra's dialogues are interesting. A good enough chunk of dialogues are in French. It helped that I understand the language. However, subtitles shall make it easy for you anyway. Vaibhavi Merchant's impeccable choreography has got my heart, especially Ranveer - Vaani's beautiful couple act in the climax.
The overall styling is impressive and classy. While the story is a tad bit predictable, especially in the first half, things get a little better post interval. However, the climax gets back to being predictable again. Also, be prepared for a whilwind of smooches coming your way. But thankfully, these have been presented aesthetically and don't look vulgar at all. Though the film could have been a bit shorter, minus a few slow paced scenes, Chopra does a fine job as the director. We like how the narrative intercuts between the past and present in an interesting way. And finally, a special mention of the most important hero of this film - Paris. The alluring landscapes and picturesque locations have been beautifully shot. Ah! Belle ville de paris. Je t'aime ❤
This may not be Aditya Chopra or Ranveer Singh's best film. You may not see this film sweeping awards at the major functions next year. However, Befikre has got it's heart in the right place and makes for a fun joyride, which keeps you entertained right till the end. Oh, and don't leave the cinema hall when the credits roll out. Watch it till the end! Picture abhi baaki hain mere dost.
Verdict: One of this year's best rom-coms! Watch it once for some entertainment and fun.

Fan | Film Review
Those who watch Bollywood films, both in India and abroad, have always looked up to Shah Rukh Khan as the king of romance. As someone who was born in the 90s and grew up watching the actor experiment with different genres, I have always loved his risks, especially those where his characters had a darker shade. In fact, Khan started his career with films that had him play negative roles, be it Darr, Baazigar or Anjaam among others. Ever since the actor took the completely commercial route, we lost this experiment loving, risk taker somewhere in the maddening crowd of the multiple crore clubs (though, Ra.One was way ahead of its times and I shall always stand by this opinion). Thankfully, he is back with a bang, with a trump card called Fan and this time, he is sure to make you fall in love with him again, albeit in a different way.
Simply saying that the film left me mind-blown, would be an understatement. Fan is nothing like any SRK film that you have seen before, and this is definitely the most unconventional Yash Raj Film starring Khan. It is dark, intense and raw. We are introduced to a typical Delhi boy - Gaurav Chandna (Khan), a die-hard fan of actor Aryan Khanna (again, Khan), a superstar who rules millions of hearts. Chandna's only dream is to spend sometime with Aryan, but his world turns upside down after his first visit to Mumbai. One thing leads to another, and the passionate fan soon turns in to a destructor, whose only aim is to destroy Aryan Khanna. That's where the chase begins, and what follows is sure to keep you hooked on right till the end.
Director Maneesh Sharma, who wowed us with Band Baaja Baarat, has done a good job at handling this fan vs superstar showdown. We love how the gripping narrative keeps us on the hook, and thankfully, there are no unnecessary songs to break the flow of the film either. Sharat Katariya's dialogues are perfect, especially the ones for Chandna that have the typical Delhi tone. Andrea Guerrea's background score is fabulous and matches each situation perfectly. It is wonderful to see a 50-year-old Khan put in incredible efforts to make some fantastic stunts look easy. Props to popular Korean action director Seyoung Oh for some thrilling, fast paced action sequences. The ensemble cast does a good job. Though, there are a few logic based loopholes in the plot, Khan's impeccable performance overshadows everything! Yes, this is an SRK entertainer all the way.
Khan's portrayal of the fan turned destroyer Gaurav is one of his best in recent times. While you see grey shades in the character and almost hate him for turning into violent fan, you also sympathise with him. As Aryan, Khan puts up a natural act. You see multiple shades in the character, ranging from being kind to turning insecure and angry. Khan's Aryan shows that actors are also human beings, after all. And in this battle between the fan and his idol, there is no right or wrong. Khan, in a double role, does full justice to completely different characters, and ends up making you believe that they are indeed two different people. This is sure an award worthy performance!
Overall, Fan may have a few weaknesses, but the strengths overpower them all. Oh, and they are nothing in front of Khan's flawless act! This is the SRK that we all wanted to see. Dark, gritty, adventurous; the one who can make us smile and cry in the same sequence. A fantastic edge of the seat thriller that is sure to keep you entertained, all the way till the end credits. Trust Shah Rukh Khan to convert you into a Fan with his incredible act in this one!

Calm Down, Bollywood Fans! DDLJ is back at Maratha Mandir
As you guys know, we have been following up on this piece of news since day one. So, after a rather sad and gloomy Thursday, there were a few rays of hope that we could see in the form of a meeting between YRF and Maratha Mandir. While the decision to run the film for 10 weeks more was to be taken on Wednesday next week, it looks like public demand made the process even more easier. And now, for those who missed watching Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge at Maratha Mandir, do not fret, because the Raj-Simran romance is back at the same, old time slot.
An official statement from the folks at Yash Raj Films confirmed that DDLJ will be showed at 11:30 am again. They added that the sudden announcement of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge being pulled out from Maratha Mandir at the end of 1009 unprecedented weeks, resulted in a spontaneous and an overwhelming outcry from the audience, as well as dedicated fans of the movie, expressing their shock and disappointment.
We all know how ever since this news went out, the management at Maratha Mandir was flooded with requests to reinstate the movie, based on which they decided to immediately reconsider their decision. Now, it has been mutually decided to continue with the 11:30 am morning show - without breaking the uninterrupted run of the film. This, YRF believes, will only strengthen the unconditional love of all DDLJ fans over generations. They ended the note by expressing their gratitude to the management at Maratha Mandir, for taking the demands of the fans into consideration.
So, now that the film is back, who else is ready to 'fall in love... again' at the Maratha Mandir?

Top 5 moments from Veer Zaara
Love it or hate it (really?), but you definitely cannot ignore the magic of late Yash Chopra's romantic saga, Veer Zaara. On this day, a decade back, the film clashed at the box office with Abbas - Mustan's Aitraaz, during the 'big' Diwali weekend. While Aitraaz got a good response among the masses, it was Veer Zaara that went on to win everyone's heart. While a few critics and audience members argued that the slow pace and stretched climax may have affected the film, die-hard romantics and fans of Shah Rukh Khan (and may I add, fans of Chopra sir) overlooked their analysis and went on to become of the last few films to celebrate a winning silver jubilee at the cinemas. Some of the romantic and emotional moments in the film were enough to melt any heart.
So, as fans of Veer Zaara across the world celebrate their decade long affair with this epic saga, we list our top 5 favorite moments from the film, that will stay with us for years to come.
