Shah Rukh Khan at Met Gala 2025: A Sabyasachi Fashion Moment Blending Black Dandyism and Indian Culture
When Shah Rukh Khan steps into a room, elegance follows. And at the Met Gala 2025, the global icon didn't just make an entrance—he made a statement. Debuting at fashion’s most-watched event, SRK graced the red blue carpet in a head to toe custom Sabyasachi look. The King of Bollywood delivered a look that was not just fashion-forward but culturally significant, merging the elegance of Indian heritage with the refined sophistication of global menswear. Khan’s outfit, designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, was an impeccable representation of Indian couture with a distinctly modern twist.
The outfit featured a floor-length coat made from fine Tasmanian wool, offering a tailored silhouette that was both structured and elegant. The coat was adorned with Japanese horn buttons, a detail that added a subtle, global touch to the design while keeping with the sophisticated mood of the look. The ensemble was paired with a black silk shirt and tailored trousers, offering the perfect blend of traditional Indian opulence and Western minimalist style.
True to the dandy spirit, the accessories were bold, personal, and poetic. Khan wore layered talismanic chains, a crystal-encrusted 'K' pendant, and a diamond-studded star brooch that caught the light with every step. But the crown jewel—figuratively and nearly literally—was a handcrafted 18k gold cane, set with tourmalines, sapphires, and diamonds. It wasn't just a fashion prop; it stood out as a symbol of legacy, power, and refinement.
The Met Gala 2025 theme—Black Dandyism—celebrated the tradition of Black men in fashion using clothing as a tool for self-expression, individuality, and power. Shah Rukh Khan’s outfit paid perfect homage to this theme. Through his choice of Sabyasachi, Khan embraced the nuanced art of dandyism, blending high fashion with cultural pride. His ensemble was not just about looking good; it was about making a bold statement about identity, legacy, and heritage. This ensemble didn’t just pay homage to Indian royalty—it celebrated the fusion of East meets West tailoring, showcasing a globalised approach to fashion, while maintaining strong ties to Indian cultural aesthetics. The satin kamarbandh, reminiscent of traditional Indian regal attire, added a touch of Mughal opulence, while the clean lines and sharp tailoring rooted the look firmly in contemporary menswear.
With this debut, Sabyasachi Mukherjee once again solidified his role as the global ambassador of Indian couture. His design philosophy—championing the “personalised imperfection of the human hand”—was stitched into every fold of the garment, and amplified by SRK’s legendary aura. To sum it up - Khan’s look stood out not for its extravagance, but for its intentionality. It was timeless. It was tailored. It was Shah Rukh Khan, the dandy, the king, the storyteller—in every stitch.

Shah Rukh Khan and the Return of the 'Angry Young Man' | Jawan
You know what's the power of a good film? The fact that it feels like a festival at the cinemas, and not just any other film that the audience is out to watch on the bring screen (only to bring out their phones and play candy crush in the middle of a crucial scene). Nope, you won't get to see such things around you, because that very person is most likely to break into a dance when 'Zinda Banda' plays. Well, that's Jawan for you. Good ol' entertainment with full-on mass vibes!
And if the record breaking collections (so far) are anything to go by, the film is steadily turning out to be one of 2023's biggest blockbusters. Well, as cinegoers, some of you may have seen the film already. And if not, you ideally don’t need any reason to go watch #Jawan (because YOU MUST). But, if you are someone who isn't too sure or has contemplated booking their tickets, here are 5 reasons why you must go out there and watch Atlee's Bollywood directorial debut:
The magic of SRK
Nobody does it like ‘King Khan’. Period! Shah Rukh Khan puts his heart & soul in a character, and his charm is unmatched. But with #Jawan - be prepared to expect the unexpected. There is a reason why he truly is the ‘last of the superstars’. Jawan feels like a festival at the cinemas, and SRK is THE GOD! You gotta see it to believe it.
Atlee's vision
Needless to say, director Atlee is a genius! Personally, I have loved his work - especially films like Theri, Mersal (and I've always admired how he styled his lead characters, and envisioned a manner in which the film would be presented), and I wholeheartedly appreciate his craft. True to his promise, Jawan is a complete package of pure entertainment, with high octane stylised action and whistle worthy moments. Moreover, the film highlights important social issues and delivers a very strong message - with key moments that tug your heart. Full props to ‘captain’ Atlee for delivering this powerful MASS film!
Plot twists galore
If you are thinking of taking a popcorn break in between the film, drop the idea! You will be hooked (so be prepared and get your stock or popcorn in advance). Jawan is a larger than life film that keeps you on the edge of your seat, all the way till the end credits. With terrific plot twists, surprise elements & thrills (and not to miss - SRK’s cool looks that keep on giving); be prepared for an exciting ride!
Girl power
The Women of Jawan take things a notch higher. Boss Lady Nayanthara steals the show. Her portrayal of ‘Narmada’ is powerful and packs a punch. That swag is just something else. Also, her chemistry with SRK is just so refreshing and lovely! Chief’s army including Sanya Malhotra, Priya Mani, Girija Oak Joshi & co were simply fab. Their backstory is crucial, and will leave you feeling numb. Ridhi Dogra too delivers in a small, but pivotal role. Of course, this appreciation is incomplete without the mention of Deepika Padukone’s impactful cameo. And clearly, nobody does it like her. Roughly 20 mins of screen time and yet, she leaves a mark with her impeccable performance! Plus, some good ol' Padukone-Khan chemistry. At its core, Jawan also celebrates Women and their unstoppable will to fight against all odds.
Behind the scenes
The technical aspects of the film are something to watch out for as well.
Anirudh Ravichander's Bollywood debut is impressive. The man, who recently delivered the chartbuster 'Jailer' soundtrack, has delivered yet again with a powerful album. Songs like Zinda Banda, Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya make you wanna get up and Dance (for real), while Chaleya is so dreamy and beautiful! Plus, the choreography is a big hit, with hook steps becoming popular among dance enthusiasts and fans. I quite liked the hook steps and overall presentation of these songs. My favourite has got to be #NotRamaiyaVastavaiya on the big screen (won’t share spoilers, but stay back during end credits. Vikram Rathore NAILS it). Anirudh's BGM creates a strong impact - especially with all those smashing SRK entries. G.K Vishnu's cinematography is a visual treat! Ruben's editing is crisp and sharp. This one’s a complete team effort!!
Well, I guess those reasons are enough for you to go out there and enjoy this larger than life film on the big screen. This is Shah Rukh Khan's revival of Bollywood's good ol’ Angry Young Man, in his own unique, impressive style. Something that will be remembered for a long, long time!
PS: While I talk about the strengths, I must add - Vijay Sethupathi as Kaali has a strong screen presence and performs well (my only concern was that his character could've been sketched out in a better way. There was a lot of potential).

27 Years of DDLJ | Top Moments from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
One of Hindi cinema's most iconic romantic movie has completed 27 years! 27 years?!? Wow, that's a long time. We have loved, lived and laughed with this film since 1995, a year, when most of the 90s children were tiny tots (or yet to be born) and our parents lovingly took to us to watch this one helluva film, without knowing that it will stay with most of us for life. Yes, we are talking about the much loved - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge - Aditya Chopra's directorial debut. Interestingly, the film is all set for a musical adaptation, which shall be helmed by Chopra himself, thus making it his broadway directorial debut. While the casting is underway, it is said that the musical shall bring together Indian and American teams. The musical will premiere very soon. Best news ever? Yes!
Rarely do films create such an impact, that their dialogues go on to become an integral part of our lives. C'mon, I am quite sure most of us would have said "Palat" or "Ja Simran Jaa, jee le apni zindagi" in between casual conversations (or best, to pull someone's leg). And what do I say about the legendary Maratha Mandir? The place has become a temple for most DDLJ fans, who hang around to buy tickets and make their mornings special with this romantic saga, which happens to be Aditya Chopra's directorial debut. It may just be a film for some, a romantic bible for a few others, but for those who have seen it umpteen number of times (and add to that, woke up early to catch the matinee show at Maratha Mandir), it is much more than just a film. It is a gift that they will cherish for several years to come. Well, that just explains the reason why even after 19 long years, the film continues to see a decent turn out, everyday, at Maratha Mandir, and has completed a legen (wait for it) dary 1000 week run.

The song that makes you see your loved one around, successfully since 1995 (and the track that tops my iPod playlist, every single time. My favourite from the DDLJ album).

On a serious note, this is 'the' moment when Simran is finally allowed to live her life. The moment where the legendary Late Amrish Puri says, "Jaa Simran jaa, jee le apni zindagi."
