The Traditional Twist
I am not very fond of heavily embellished ethnic outfits. My all time favorite ethnic outfit has to be a simple and elegant lucknowi chikan suit or an elegant anarkali. I also love opting for collared kurtas in cotton. When an occasion demands something traditional, I usually opt for the simple Kurta - Churidaar look, albeit with a twist. Playing with colors and accessories is one such thing. Mixing colours is always fun, especially in summer. I recently did something similar, when I had to attend a morning Puja in Shirdi. And to add some extra fun, I wore my favourite pair of aviators along with it.
There are times when I just like to opt for a classic look. A simple outfit, pair of sunglasses, an elegant watch and I am ready to go. But experimenting with a dash of colors doesn't hurt, especially on a happy, sunny day (and more so, if it is your birthday morning). In this outfit, the pair of colorful earrings and the hint of neon green on my flat sandals broke the monotony of blue and pink.
So, the next time you go traditional, try moving away from the boring route and add a dash of colours to your plain Kurta - Churidaar look. But, don't over - accessorize the look. Stick to one stand out accessory, which can add some drama to your overall outfit. Keep the make - up minimal. I have only opted for a bright shade of pink matte lipstick and an eyeliner.

Little Miss Sunshine!
"Happy girls are the prettiest. You are certainly one of them. But, let me remind you, that you are responsible for making several people around you look pretty everyday. Happy Birthday, little miss sunshine."
This simple message sent by a dear friend living across the seven seas (well, almost) was enough to make me smile on my birthday. There is nothing better than happiness, no matter how big or small the occasion is.
In this fast paced life, stress and teeny - weeny worries can easily take a toll on you. And that's when you realize that finding happiness in the smallest of things can bring a much needed smile on your face. It's not always that you need accessories or expensive items to brighten up your day. A simple, heartfelt smile and the will to spread happiness can make you prettier than any LV or Prada clad lady standing across the street.
Maybe, that's the reason why I love birthdays. Those who know me well will tell you how much I love them.
And when it comes down to my own, well, I love seeing happy faces everywhere and can't stop smiling myself.

The Travel Diaries | Konkan
A holiday or vacation is the ultimate blessing, anyone could ever get. Especially if it is a week long holiday that you have managed to earn after a good long year. My idea of a holiday is simple - Keep calm and put your travel mode on. I love travelling, and so instead of only sticking to the popular tourist areas, I do some research in order to explore interesting destinations. Recently, I managed to take almost a month off from my schedule, and traveled to various cities in India. A week in Konkan was one of them. As usual, beaches, historical monuments, ghats and temples were my hangouts. My friends say, "If you can't find Priya in Mumbai, you might find her at a beach, a fort, or some temple." Well, I couldn't agree more.
My favorite beaches are the ones on the Konkan coast. Quiet, calm, and serene, these beaches are far from those typical commercialized beaches, where hawkers and bystanders will keep irritating the hell out of you. The sea water is clean, so much so that you can spot a variety of fishes and sea shells from a distance. When the cold water splashes against your feet, you can't help but dance with joy. The pristine white sand welcomes you, as you sit down to doodle your name on the shiny little particles.
On a trip to the beach, dresses, shorts, leggings are your best bet. Flat shoes are more comfortable and suitable, especially the ones without any straps. I prefer those over any other variety, because you can quickly get rid of your footwear when you spot a virgin beach in the middle of nowhere. I always carry one or two pairs of osho flats in different colors.
While we are on the topic of apparel and accessories, I must add that you get some fabulous accessories in Sawantwadi. I picked up some funky bangles and cute earrings during my recent trip. As they say, "When you are travelling, take some time out to shop for local favorites."
If you like experimenting with food, then you shouldn't shy away from trying the local delicacies. Konkan is famous for its non-vegetarian delights, and the never ending love affair that we maharashtrians have with 'Kokam Sharbat' (you can see me posing with a glass, in the photograph above). So when in Konkan, have your share of Malvani macchi fry and Malvani Chicken Sukka. Vegetarians, don't fret! You will get the best Kaju malvani masala and Vangyacha bharit, which will leave your taste buds happy.

FCUK Spring/Summer collection 2013
This weekend, I was invited to check out the latest collection at FCUK. If I had to describe the collection in three words, it would be: Fresh, Summery, and Bright. They have something for everyone, and it is one of the few labels that has managed to maintain a perfect blend of trends and comfort. I was impressed to see striped dresses and T-shirts in a variety of colors (and not just B&W), neon and pastel Tees, shorts in bold colors among other interesting apparel and accessories.
Glam It Up with Accessories
Accessories can make any dull piece of apparel look good. One must always pick up accessories that they like instead of looking for an exact copy of a friend's necklace or earrings. So after a long day, attending one lecture after another at college, I decided to hunt for some accessories. After all, a little bit of 'Accessory Splurging' doesn't hurt anyone, except my pocket! Got a few good stuff that will spruce up any plain Tee or A pastel or neon dress. Take a look! :)
| Butterfly pendant with Chain |
This piece is perfect for a light day out with friends or a day at the theatre. It looks great with Plain tees and skirts and Colourful jumpsuits.
| Finger ring 1: Chunky finger ring with diamante Finger ring 2: Finger ring with blue stones |
Chunky rings brighten up my ensemble. I love wearing colourful, chunky finger rings! The first one caught my eye because of its unique design. It goes well with Indian apparel as well. As for the second one, those blue stones were enough to make me pay up for it. Plus, a finger ring in this shade of blue looks royal. These rings were definitely one of my favourite buys that day.
Oh wait! Did I introduce my latest favourite hair accessory to you?
I must thank my mom as she was the one who managed to find this for me. I was so engrossed in picking up finger rings and other things that my eyes missed out on this little beauty. Again, I love this colour. This little magical piece is the perfect thing you need to put an icing on your overall look. I loved it so much that I asked the manager of the shop to keep me informed when the stock comes in. I so don't wanna miss out on this piece in Orange or Lime green.
I wore this piece today, but the picture isnt that clear!
So now I have quite a few good accessories for my upcoming trips & of course, My Birthday.
And as they say, a day out shopping for accessories always ends up giving you a big smile! :)
