Dil Chahta Hai! It's the perfect example of a 'friendship' film, and I think it was quite ahead of its times. It changed the whole dynamics in Indian cinema.
Your girl squad?
It's all over Instagram. I think everybody knows (laughs)
Does the girl gang have its share of 'kiss and make up' moments?
Well, there is always room for opinions and debate. But, we don't really fight!
If you could have one special power, what would you do with it?
I honestly wish that I could always be around my sons [Taimur and Jeh], and never go anywhere without them.
One personality trait of Saif [Ali Khan] that you really admire.
The list would be endless, other wise I wouldn't have married him (laughs). Our value system is the same, and I think that is the most important thing that you look for in a man.
Something about your equation with Saif, that stands out from the rest?
Probably, the fact that we agree on so many things. Our fundamentals in life are very much aligned.

If there is one statement look and trend that I swear by, it's the 'Pant-Suit' or 'Power Suit'. I can literally have them in every colour, texture and silhouette! Luckily for us, gone are the days when suits only meant stiff fabrics, straight fit trousers and corporate styled blazers, in not more than three colours - black, grey and brown (whatever happened to variance). Women Know How to Multitask Very Well - Kareena Kapoor Khan | Interview
When the queen arrives, she arrives in style! Veere Di Wedding marks her return on the big screen after a two year hiatus, but one never really felt like they were missing out on Kareena Kapoor Khan. The actress, who was last seen in Udta Punjab, was pretty much in the news throughout her pregnancy 'break'. From brand shoots to posing for magazine covers and attending launch events; Kareena made a strong statement by ditching long naps and joining millions of women across the globe, who are known to skilfully multi task, even if that means turning show stopper for designer Sabyasachi at Lakme Fashion Week, proudly flaunting a baby bump.
On a rather hot and sunny afternoon, we caught up with the actress. Looking fresh as ever, she stepped out of her vanity, dressed in a Polka Dot dress by Michael Kors. While the shutterbugs began to get the perfect picture, Bebo was rather unfazed. "Ghar jaldi jaana hain, Taimur is waiting," she quipped, requesting the paparazzi to hurry. Within minutes, she entered the studio and settled down for a quick chat! While excerpts from the interaction follow, I must share an interesting moment. Just before wrapping up the day's work, the actress stepped out in smart casuals. While Kareena was obliging fans with selfies and discussing the week's schedule with her manager, I walked past her with a smile. Our eyes met, and she smiled back. Within seconds, I heard her say, "So hot these days na! Always carry a bottle of water. It's essential to keep yourself hydrated all year round. Stay hydrated, okay!" I smiled (again) and thanked the actress. Amused, and quite taken aback. Reason? Well, I had forgotten to carry my bottle that day. Just a few minutes before this incident, I was checking with the team if there was any mineral water around. Unfortunately, there wasn't any, and I had to wait till the end to go out and buy one. So, Bebo's advice was definitely appreciated! Well, that's Kareena Kapoor Khan for you. We don't call her the 'Queen' for nothin'. And now, it's time we 'dive' into our chat with the stunning star:
Is there any personality trait in Kalindi that you could relate to?
Actually, Kalindi is very different from the person that I am. I am very practical, and I am sure of what I want or would like to do. People who know me will tell that I am very head strong. If I make a decision, then I will stick to it. That way, Kalindi is completely opposite.
At any point in life, did you develop cold feet while being in a relationship? Like your character - Kalindi in the film?
Not at all! Everyone knows that I have never been commitment phobic. Kalindi is a lot like that, but not me. I have always been very clear about my choices in life. Even generally, as a person, I am very clear about what I want to do. So, I've never really been in that kind of a situation.
We have seen some successful women centric films in the recent past, with many of them crossing the 100cr mark at the BO. Do you think people are more open to watching a woman centric film in the Indian industry today, compared to a few decades ago?
Of course! There have been a lot of women oriented films, with the female actor carrying the film on her shoulders, and they have successfully done it. Right from The Dirty Picture to Queen and now, Raazi; these films have done really well. I believe that if the film is good, and has the perfect script, then it doesn't matter whether it's a hero or a heroine leading it. If the film is made well, then the audience will surely support it!
A lot of people usually associate the Hindi film 'Heroine' to just be a glamorous addition to the cast? With powerful female characters dominating the scene, do you think that stereotype is finally breaking away?
Absolutely! Whether it is mainstream cinema or any other kind, ultimately what matters is your film. I know it's quite a task to constantly look perfect in front of the camera and maintain your hair, make up. But, all of that is secondary, especially when compared to your character and what you are doing in the film. It's important to take your job seriously, which we all do.
If the film is made well, then the audience will surely support it
During the filming of Veere... it was great to see you juggling multiple duties - that of an actor and mom. Did you face any challenges while maintaining that fine balance?
Not really. Perhaps, it was just the time factor. There are days when I want to spend all my time with Taimur. But, I think women know how to multi-task very well. Also, I am very happy that I have an excellent support system, and that's one of the main reasons why I can work and make time out for the family as well.
2018 will see many star kids make a splash in the industry. If you look back to the time when you debuted with Refugee, was there any pressure or baggage that came with being a 'Kapoor' kid?
I think that lasts only till your first film hits the screen. After that, all that you do - including the way you choose the scripts, films or even the way you lead your life - is your own.
Taimur has constantly been the apple of social media's eye, with videos and photos of him posted all over. Do you think all of it takes away from the little one's privacy?
Honestly, I don't know what to say! I just feel the media shouldn't be taking so many pictures all the time. He is still a little boy, and all of us are quite concerned. I do understand the media's point of view, so what can I do? (pauses) All I can do is request people to not do that.
I am very happy that I have an excellent support system, and that's one of the main reasons why I can work and make time out for the family as well
Will we see you do more films in the coming year, and would it be a conscious decision to limit your time on the sets?
Well, I did Veere... (Veere Di Wedding) right after Taimur's birth. But, I definitely want to spend more time with my baby, rather than a set. So, I've decided to do just one film a year.
Have you ever imagined a life without facing the camera?
Ummm.. I can imagine my life without it. Maybe, 20 - 30 years later. But, having said that, I would always want to work. At least, till the time I can. The thing is, I can't think of what I would be doing 30 years later, but hopefully, I will always work. Or let's put it this way - I will always try to keep working!

Celebrity Style Files | Kareena Kapoor Khan for Vikram Phadnis
When the organisers of the ongoing Shop Qatar Festival 2018 decided to host a Bollywood themed fashion show, they were pretty sure that they wanted none other than the diva - Kareena Kapoor Khan. The actress was roped in as the show stopper for designer Vikram Phadnis. With this, she became the first Bollywood superstar to walk the ramp in Doha. The event was held at Mondrian Doha, West Bay yesterday.
Last evening, Bebo charmed the audience with her stunning appearance in a dull peach lehanga. Her gorgeous outfit, complete with an embroidered choli and matching dupatta, was just perfect to give several to-be brides major style goals during the upcoming wedding season.
The intricate gold detailing and motifs stood out, as Kareena gracefully walked the ramp. A neat bun, natural finished look with dark, heavily kohl-ed eyes and nude lips completed her look. We love how the look is perfectly accessorised with a pair of studded chandbalis, necklace, ring and maang tikaa.
A source close to the event said that Phadnis has designed five ensembles for Kareena to choose from. While he is keen on her wearing a red and burgundy lehenga he has designed, Bebo preferred the dull peachy tones. A few minutes before walking the ramp, Kareena was visibly excited. She said, “I am excited to walking the ramp. Also, looking forward to interacting with my fans here."

Lakmè Absolute Grand Finale | Designer Anita Dongre feat Kareena Kapoor Khan
A glamorous night under the starry sky, at a heritage venue facing the sea. Five days of Mumbai's most stylish fashion soiree came to a close with a fitting Grand Finale at Bandra Fort last night. After a glorious celebration of sustainable fashion and stunning showcases throughout the week, fashion connoisseurs were in for a treat at the closing showcase of Lakmè Fashion Week. The glorious Bandra fort, built in 1640, was all decked up in lights, with a runway that celebrated nature in every way. The amphitheatre was packed with excited celebrities, guests, media personalities and of course, the paparazzi, waiting for the grand finale designer Anita Dongre and her gorgeous muse, Lakmè brand ambassador (and the face of Dongre's label AND) - Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Needless to say, Dongre created magic with her collection titled 'Alchemy'. Inspired by the glistening, sun kissed sands of Rajasthan, along with the natural flora and fauna in the state, Alchemy had the perfect melange of Indian aesthetics and modern artwork. The collection featured a stunning combination of whites and golds in soft silhouettes, woven cotton silk and intricate gold thread work. The showcase, which perfectly embodied Lakmè's beauty statement - Liquid Gold, was also special as it marked Dongre's first finale at LFW. In addition, it was also new mommy Kareena's first big appearance after pregnancy. The actress, radiant as ever, looked like a vision in white and gold, as she closed the LFW summer/resort 2017 edition like a royal diva. Here's all the action from the Grand Finale night.

Kareena Kapoor Khan's Maternity Style | Birthday Special
That we cannot take our eyes off the rosy glow on her face is obvious. But, another aspect that really stood in the last couple of weeks is Kareena Kapoor Khan's choice of outfits. Ever since she confirmed her pregnancy, Bebo has been given every to-be mommy some serious maternity style goals. Not that she never surprised us with her sartorial choices before, but her mommy to-be outfits are seriously a notch above. Little or no make up [with the exception of a bold or nude lipstick in some cases], right choice of silhouettes and the perfect accessories; Kareena is clearly nailing it. Here's a look at some of our favourite looks sported by the charming begum, who turns 36 today.
1. In H&M for Global Citizen Event
Trust Kareena to be a sassy and stylish mommy! At a recent event, where she addressed the audience and media, Kareena opted for a Black jersey dress and dark emerald green jewel toned jacket by H&M. She added a gold bracelet and pair of black cage heels to complete the look. The make up was bare minimum, with just her favourite kajal and a swipe of nude lipstick, and she kept it simple with a ponytail. Quite a cool look, this!
2. In Eka, Zara & Tod's for a Casual Meet
After attending a brand event, Kareena opted for this super comfortable dress by designer Rina Singh's Eka. There ain't no room for Monday morning blues, if you see someone looking so stylish in a casual outfit! Bebo's stylist Tanya Ghavri added a pair of flats by Tod's and pretty fringe bag from Zara to this look. Once again, Bebo opted for minimal make up. Soft, natural waves completed this lovely look.
3. In Swapnil Shinde for an Ad Shoot
It can't get cuter than this! While shooting for an ad film, Bebo stepped out looking adorable as ever in a blush pink off-shoulder maxi dress by designer Swapnil Shinde. Neutral make up and soft vintage waves added some glamour to this chic look. Definitely one of our favourite looks on Kareena this season!
4. In Sabyasachi for Press Con + LFW Grand Finale
As the brand ambassador for Lakmè India, Kareena Kapoor Khan kickstarted the last day of Lakmè Fashion Week W/F 2016 [held in Mumbai last month] with a press meet, where she looked stunning in a floral Sabyasachi maxi dress. Bold red lips and glamorous side swept hair looked perfect on her. Later, she made waves as the showstopper for designer Sabyasachi's showcase at the grand finale. During the post event press conference, she got a little emotional and added that it was a pleasure to walk the ramp with her yet to be born baby in tow. Awww!
5. In Bungalow 8 & Gucci for post LFW meet
After a long day of interviews and taking over the Lakmè Fashion Week grand finale as the showstopper, Bebo slipped into a relaxed yet gorgeous outfit. Her stylist, Tanya, chose this pretty dress from Bungalow 8's pre-fall collection and paired it with Gucci loafers, which added a hint of metallics to an otherwise neutral look. Well defined eyes, side swept hair and that perfect mommy hood glow; simply perfect!

Udta Punjab | Film Review
It won't be wrong to say that the makers of Udta Punjab went through a roller coaster of a journey, before their labour of love could release in theatres. Right from finding it difficult to find someone to back the film to getting stuck in a CBFC controversy and finally, emerging victorious just two days away from the film's release. Despite all the obstacles that the team successful passed, Udta Punjab finally hit the screens today and we have enough reasons to call it a must watch.
Director Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab is dark, raw and edgy drama, which follows the journey of four individuals, whose lives get embroiled in the circle of drugs and addiction in different ways. The film opens with a sequence that well explains the way this highly dangerous substance is illegally imported into the country from across the border. We are then introduced to all the main characters who build the story - Tommy Singh (Shahid Kapoor as a loud and wacky pop star, whose live revolves around music, parties and drugs), Bihari Migrant aka Pagaliya / Mary Jane (Alia Bhatt as a state level hockey champion from Bihar, whose life takes the turn for worse as she is brought to Punjab as a labourer), Sartaj Singh (Diljit Dosanjh as the head strong cop) and Dr Preet Sahani (Kareena Kapoor Khan as a doctor based in Punjab, who also runs a rehabilitation clinic for drug addicts). Apart from the lead cast, there are other important characters played by some fine actors who further make the ensemble cast stronger.
Each character's journey begins on one note and ends on a completely different note. It is this very journey that sets the premise of this film. Despite being high on life and considering himself as the king of the world, Tommy Singh is nothing but a lost soul who has no idea where life is taking him. He depends on drugs to help him get a kick and become the 'Gabru', that he is famously known as. Bhatt's bihari migrant is a dreamer, whose only wish is to live a good life. But, it is during the quest to fulfil this very dream that lands her in deep trouble and changes her life forever. Sartaj Singh is one of the many corrupt cops in the area, who does not care about the ongoings in Punjab, until trouble lands at his doorstep and changes his view of the situation in the state forever. Dr Preet Sahani is a warm and caring doctor, whose only mission is to wipe out this addiction, which has paralysed the youth of her state. But, little does she know that life can unpredictable.
Udta Punjab leaves you feeling shocked, surprised and emotional in many ways. Certain sequences in the first half are extremely dark and can, in fact, leave you with goosebumps. As we are introduced to the characters, we also realise how vulnerable they are, irrespective of their stature in the society. This is not your usual candy floss cinema. This is an honest attempt that aims to highlight the problems that plague the state, through the journey of it's four main protagonists and a few other important characters. The treatment meted out to the film is perfect. Director Abhishek Chaubey has used some wonderful techniques to describe the psychological state of every character. The research is commendable and quite eye opening as well. Chaubey keeps the film crisp and avoids unwanted cliches that you may see in any other drug drama. There are no high intensity chases and maar-dhaad here. The scenes that unfold are real and raw. The background score is simply brilliant and we like how the songs are wonderfully woven into the narrative, not making it look abrupt or unwanted. The music composed by Amit Trivedi is very good, and the songs do stay in your mind, even hours after leaving the cinema hall (though I did miss Vadiyaan, which happens to be my favourite song from the film). The dialogues are good, and despite being filled with choicest of expletives, it does not sound gross or out of place. Let's admit it, that's how a lot of people talk. So, no point running away from reality and behaving like we haven't heard people use an abuse each in every sentence. Majority of the film is in the Punjabi and Bihari dialect, hence subtitles have been provided.
What's amazing about this film is the way Chaubey has allowed all four protagonists to lead the way. This is not a one hero film. Udta Punjab belongs to the entire cast, who help shape the film with their well researched characters. Alia is as much the hero of this film as Shahid, Diljit or Kareena. Shahid steps in a completely different world as the crazy rockstar Tommy Singh. He gets the nuances of a substance addict right and puts up a controlled act. It won't be wrong to say that this shall add up to his list of best performances so far. Despite all the wrongdoings, you don't hate Tommy, but tend to sympathise and feel for the character. This is the most complex characters of them all and Shahid does complete justice to it. He portrays a lot of his emotions through the eyes and does an excellent job of essaying this complex role. Alia performs well as the bihari migrant. Although she takes time to get into her character and feel comfortable with the dialect, she does well, especially in the second half. You feel for her helplessness and support her for being a rebel. Diljit makes an impressive debut in the Hindi film industry. His portrayal of Sartaj Singh is not your usual "I am a cop and can beat up 100s" kind of machoism. Diljit essays Sartaj in the most honest and mature manner. He emotes very well, which is certainly his biggest advantage. We would certainly love to see more of him in Bollywood. Kareena looks gorgeous as the calm and composed Preet, who is gritty and determined. While the character doesn't give her much scope to experiment, she puts up a fine performance and leaves an impact. The ensemble cast, especially the actor who plays Balli and one of our favourites - Satish Kaushik are brilliant.
Overall, Udta Punjab is an honest and brilliantly packaged attempt. The kind of cinema that highlights an important issue without being too preachy.
