5 Must Have Bras for Every Woman
Most women stress on buying the right outfit, that not only matches their personality, but also the occasion. But, most of them forget that it is equally, or perhaps more important to feel good from the inside. No, I am not here to discuss soul searching or any form of meditation. I am talking about the need to zero in on the right Bra. We get so lost in trying to get everything right, that we often forget the most basic necessity - a well fitted bra, that is actually the right style and size. In a country that is still opening up to the concept of investing in lingerie and buying a bra according to the cup and band size (and not just any random S, M or XL), it is also important to understand that things don’t just stop there. Just like there is an outfit for every occasion, we need to have a bra that goes well with every outfit (and provides perfect support and comfort).
For those who are still confused, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of the 5 bra styles that are a must have for every woman, irrespective of age, size, activity or occasion.
1. Everyday Bra
The basic bralette or the good ol’ everyday bra is what you will find yourself in on most days. These do the basic job of providing good support and comfort. These come in both wired and the non-wired variety, and are mostly non-padded. If you end up finding a super comfortable bralette, that you cannot let go of, ensure you stock up on them in different basic colours (nude is a must). Ensure you re-stock in every 5-6 months (or as soon as the bra loses it’s fit).
2. Strapless Bra
This is a must have for all those who swear by outfits that range from cold shoulders to strapless or even halter. Good to go with necklines that are scooped, boatneck or square. Your best bet would be a Nude coloured bra, but you can still go ahead and experiment with colours (or best, stick to black). Make you check that the bra comes with the perfect rubber grip and has at least three hooks. You don’t want a bra that keeps sliding down, do you?

3. Multiway Bra
On days when you decide to wear a one-shoulder outfit, this bra shall be your saviour. Most women ignore this style, thinking it’s not really necessary and that they already own a strapless bra. But, it can go a long way in helping you modify your bra according to the requirement of the outfit, be it a halter, racer back or even strapless. Investing in a good multiway bra will ensure that you don’t have to stock up on multiple ‘rarely used’ styles.
4. T-shirt Bra
All of us love T-shirts. But, nobody likes the texture of a bra being visible on a well fitted tee (don’t we all hate a visible panty line? The same goes for a bra). A well fitted T-shirt bra is a must have for all those who swear by tees, and wear them on a regular basis. These bras have a contoured cup made of very thin material, making it perfect to wear under a t-shirt or anything made up of a thin fabric. Perfect to wear under a silky blouse or dress as well.

5. Sports Bra
This one’s for those who swear by their workout and fitness routine everyday. The biggest sin one can commit is to workout wearing a normal bra. Why on earth would you torture your breasts and further ruin the breast tissue? For those who think this style is made only those who spend hours in the gym, you are wrong. Even brisk walking in a normal bra can lead to damage, that can further lead to sagging. Be it Yoga, Walking, Running or any other activity, investing in a good Sports bra is a must. It provides the perfect support required for any activity. Also, don’t forget to check on the intensity of your activity, as that will determine the kind of sports bra you can opt for. Most top brands categorise their sports bras according to the impact of the activity.

With a variety of lingerie brands, both basic and premium, available on online shopping sites and at your local mall, things have become easier for us to find the right bra, that matches our requirement and budget. Go, get yourself measured and invest in some of the must-have styles today!

The Sneaker Lust List | Top 5 Sneakers for SS 2015
What’s a shoe fanatic without a brilliant collection of sneakers? Everyone loves shopping for footwear and apart from the usual pumps, stilettos, brogues among others, we all love spending a good amount from our savings account on a fancy pair of kicks that can spruce up any outfit. This season, the international market is flooded with some stylish and versatile sneakers that we can’t stop eyeing. Pair it with distressed denims and graphic tee or add some funk to by wearing it with a dress, a cool pair of sneakers can never go wrong. While hunting for some footwear (and adding some to our wish list), we decided to compile a list of the best sneakers, that certainly needs to make its way into our wardrobes.
Nike Dunk Sky Hi
C’mon! Admit it. We all love the Nike Dunk Sky Hi collection. Every season, Nike surprises us with new colors and fabrics, making it difficult to choose just one favorite. If the Red or Blue dunks left you wanting for more, you will be delighted to see the new Coral dunks, or even the white, blue and purple ones. Oh! And did we tell you, we are totally lusting over the brand new leather dunk-sky hi? We saw them at the recently held Nike Press Preview and well, we couldn't have asked for a better eye candy!
Vans Brigata
A happy pair of canvas sneakers is perfect to add a vintage or school girl charm to your outfit. We came across the new Vans classic range called Brigata, which takes inspiration from nautical hues and elements. The range is divided into three types - Vans Brigata, C&C Brigata and the C&L Brigata - and couldn’t stop going gaga over it. If the basics like white, grey or black are your thing, then opt for a simple pair from the Brigata collection. Or if the nautical inspired hues are your thing, then go for the Brigata C&C range. If want to add a funky touch, go for the C&L range, which includes tonal laces and contrast liners. Who said canvas sneakers had to be boring white, eh?
Converse Cons Weapon Invader
Bring out the military diva in you and show off your attitude. Wear these cool Converse Weapon Invaders when you are all set to steal the show and invade the streets. Planning to head out in the night in these beauties? Well, get ready to shine, as the Weapon Invader has a glow in the dark outsole. The gold detailing provides the perfect finish to this strong and stunning pair.
Puma x Solange Wild Wonder Sneaker
Fun burst of colors and tons of metallic fun! Am I talking about a party? Nope! But one look at the beautiful Puma x Solange Wild Wonder collection sneaker and you can’t help but get your party mode one. Although this collection was launched last year, we continue our obsession with these babies. The fun silhouettes, textures, unique designs and the use of mesh underlays (perfect for summer) make this one a winner! Oh, and those graphic mid soles are the bomb.
And last but not the least! Here’s presenting the super lust worthy pair of sneakers this year.
Marc Jacobs fringed low-top sneakers
This stunning fringed slide-on pair is currently topping almost every shoe wish list. What’s not to like here? One look at that quilted detailing at the heel or the sophisticated fringe, and you will know what I am talking about. Since fringes is a much loved trend this season, this skate-inspired sneaker is definitely a must have if you can afford to splurge.

Here's how Nike Air Max evolved since 1987 | Nike Air Max Day
Nike Air Max has seen constant evolution. One look at the Air Max 2015 (worn in my #BleedBlue post here) and we can't help but say how much the Air Max range has changed over the years. This year, the Nike Air Max completes 28 years on March 26 and fans from across the globe are celebrating this day. Let's take you through a quick journey of Nike's popular range of shoes has seen evolution since 1987.
In 1987, Nike Air was not a new proposition. Runners were already familiar with the benefits of the cushioning technology, which first appeared in the Nike Tailwind in 1978. But seeing is believing, right? So, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield set out to make the breakthrough technology visible, so that the runners could understand its cushioning benefits better. He created the Nike Air Max with Visible Air, which gave birth to a franchise that forever altered the course of sneakers.
The story of visible air didn’t begin with Hatfield’s design. Rather, it started when David Forland, Nike’s Director of Cushioning Innovation, joined the team in 1985. In many respects, Forland is the world’s foremost expert in visible air. He has been focused on pushing the technology into unexplored new territories for the past 30 years. He is also the first to admit that the road to Air Max had its share of obstacles. In the ‘80s, Forland constructed encapsulated Air-Sole prototypes by hand. He stumbled upon a critical moment in visible air history when he rotated the bag, placing the seams on the top and bottom instead of on the perimeter.
At that exact moment the light bulb turned on. I built a new prototype right there on the spot - David Forland
And thus, the first prototype of visible Nike Air technology was born, and the Nike Air Max 1 became the first shoe to showcase it. Prior to this breakthrough, Nike Air-Soles were getting thinner, not larger. In an effort to increase the sensory perception of walking on air, Forland quickly changed the approach.
If you look at the history of Air Max, especially from 1987 to 1993, one of the main differences among models was each version held a greater volume of air than the last one, and conversely the least amount of foam. Foam breaks down; air doesn't - David Forland
During the pursuit of increased air volume, Forland had another aha moment. Eliminating the foam between the outsole and the Air-Sole unit might create space for increased Air-Sole volume. With that idea came the Nike Air Max 180, the first shoe to feature a 180-degree visible Air-Sole — which was no easy task for Forland.
The idea was much easier said than done. The Air Max 180 was one of the most difficult Air Max sneakers to create - David Forland
At that point, the Air Max 1, Air Max 180 and Air Max 90 all featured Air-Sole units in the forefoot that were encapsulated in foam. As the quest for a fully foamless running sneaker continued, the team made a monumental discovery: a new Air-Sole construction method called blow molding. First used on the Nike Air Max 93, this technique allowed for the creation of Air-Soles in 3-D shapes that didn't depend on air pressure. Now, Air-Soles could be crafted to fit the curvature of the shoe’s forefoot. Taking full advantage of the innovation, the Nike Air Max 95, which consisted of two separate blow-molded Air-Sole units, was the first manifestation of visible air in the forefoot.
In 1997, Nike designers and developers cracked the code on how to create a full-length Air-Sole, making a monumental leap forward toward the goal of a fully foamless Air Max. The first step was to construct an interconnected heel and forefoot unit. The next task was to figure out how to hold the molten film long enough to close a full-length 3-D mold around it. Many prototypes and one bullet train later, the Air Max 97 came into existence.
After unlocking full-length air, ideas around air seemed endless. Nike began to focus on other forms of cushioning, one of which was Tuned Air. This innovative play on air cushioning first debuted on the 1999 Nike Air Max Plus and used physical structures to augment the stability of Nike Max Air cushioning. The next advancement came with the Air Max 360 in 2006, which finally attained the goal of a foamless shoe — nearly 20 years after the first Air Max. To create the Air Max 360, Forland’s team utilized Caged Air technology instead of foam as the stabilizer.
The all-air accomplishment did not mark the end of Air Max evolution. Forland’s team had fulfilled its mission, but they could not resist the question of how to further improve the franchise. Forland and the team shifted focus from eliminating foam to increasing flexibility. Utilizing tubular construction, they built deep flex grooves into the Air-Soles of the Nike Air Max 2015, resulting in the most flexible Max Air cushioning platform ever.
After the long journey, Forland learned that innovation doesn't come without risk.
I remember the first blow-molded Air-Sole unit. We worked so hard on that and had no idea if people would embrace it. I was at an airport right around the time the first Air Max sneaker launched. I was calling a tech in the lab when someone walked by wearing a pair. I stared at him from the phone booth and said, ‘Somebody bought them. I see the Air-Sole going up and down.’ It was a big risk, but bigger reward. For the Air Max family, it's only up from here - David Forland

Top Footwear Brands | Spring/Summer 2015
“Give a woman the right pair of shoes, and she can conquer the world” – one quote that every girl can relate to. We have all had those days when we enter a mall or log on to our favorite online shopping site, only to fill our bags (or cart, if online) with tons of shoes. Sneakers, wedges, platform heels, boots, loafers, moccasins, and pumps among others, there is so much out there for shoe fanatics. C’mon, who wouldn’t love seeing a pair each of these divine beauties in their wardrobe? While there are a variety of brands that stock up on footwear, there are some that leave us wide eyed with their stunning collections. For those who are on the lookout for a brand new pair this season, we have got together a list of footwear brands in India that we can't stop loving (in no particular order).
Nike
All the fellow sneakerheads in the house will agree that we can never get enough of the vast variety that Nike offers us, be it for training, running or just for everyday swag. Nike is one brand that keeps experimenting with shoe technology. After falling in love with the Dunk Sky-Hi and Air Max 2015, we have now got our eyes on the brand new Nike Roshe Flyknit, which was launched on March 5. These shoes are all set to take comfort to another level.
Charles & Keith
One look at some of their yummy footwear and we challenge you to leave without buying a pair. On a personal note, I have always been a fan of their ankle strap sandals and platform heels in classic hues like white and nude. Their latest collection includes some stunning flat sandals with gold detail, colorful wedges and loafers in fun prints that can spruce up any outfit.
Steve Madden
When the heart wants to splurge, a pair of Steve Madden is what it needs. We all love their sexy peep toes and platform heels, don’t we? Especially those that add just the right amount of bling to your party outfit. And some of their new metallic slip ons look gorgeous.
Vans
Love pairing your dresses or that favorite sweatshirt with a funky pair of slip ons? Or are high top sneakers totally your thing? Then Vans is sure to steal your heart. They have got some really interesting pairs in different colors, patterns and silhouettes. Wanna get creative? Then customize your shoes and show the world your own quirky art. Creativity meets style. This is fun!
Metro
When it comes to footwear, Metro is one brand that caters to consumers from all walks of life. Right from affordable sandals for everyday use to studded heels for an evening affair, they have got everything under one roof. Metro is well known for their variety that includes all kinds of styles, right from casual flats to studded wedges and even Kolhapuris. Metro is also frequented by those who look for comfort over style.
Adidas Originals
These guys are making us fall in love with their street style vibe, one collection after another. The face of sneakers is fast changing, with constant evolution and experiments, and Adidas Originals is nailing it big time in that department. This season, we can’t stop loving their collaborations with Rita Ora, Kanye West and of course, we are looking forward to the much anticipated ‘Superstar’ collaboration with American music artist Pharell Williams.

Bleed Blue for Team India | Nike (ICC World Cup 2015 Special)
Tis' the season of cricket, where we all get together to scream our lungs out, every time Team India is out on the field to play against the opponent. Empty streets, nail biting moments and loud cheers have become the norm every weekend these days. Now, with Team India becoming the first team in Pool B to qualify for the quarter finals, everyone is quite excited to see our Indian boys get a clean sweep with a win over Ireland in the next match. With a great batting line up, excellent fielding and decent bowling skills, Team India is fast becoming a hot favorite to defend the title. So much, that every time we see a match involving India, the stadium looks more like Wankhede than an Australian venue.
This sure is turning out to be one interesting edition of the World Cup and what makes it even more special is the incredible 'Bleed Blue' campaign by Team India's official apparel sponsors - Nike. I get emotional every time I see the men in blue stand in respect for the national anthem. And of course, another proud moment is to watch a sea of Team India fans in Australia/New Zealand, clad in their brand jerseys, bleeding blue with pride for their nation. After all, cricket is not just a game, it is a much revered and loved religion, where a match win ensures an early Diwali (read: firecrackers bursting) in every little by-lane of India. Bleed Blue (the campaign), that was first launched in 2011 ahead of the cricket world cup that year, has fast become two integral words that every Indian swears by. It stands for the color that unifies the hopes and dreams of more than 1 billion people.
For someone who has been brought up in an environment where cricket talks are an everyday thing - irrespective of the format, tournament or team, it is no surprise that I am a proud cricket fanatic. If you have been following me on Twitter, you already know that I get this fanaticism from my Dad, an ex-cricketer, with whom I can talk all things cricket non-stop. Girls can't talk cricket, some say. "They can only chat about Virat Kohli and Dale Steyn's latest hair do." Wrong! There is a lot more to cricket than fashion or good looking men. I can easily tell a cover drive from a hook and square cut. Oh, and I love cricket in its purest form - the test format. One doesn't have to talk cricket statistics all day to be a fan of the game. Cricket, for those like me and dad, is not just a game. It is a way of life. And when it comes to cheering for India, everything else can wait.
If I had to describe the all new Nike Team India jersey in one word (or two), it would be - super comfortable. I can live in this the entire day. No wonder, the men in blue are all smiles, whenever they step out looking their finest best in those uniforms. With just one match left before we hop on to the crucial QFs, here's wishing Team India all the very best for the journey ahead. Kill it, boys! Don't give that beauty back.
Have you ordered your Team India jersey yet? If not, head to a Nike store or order it online here.

"Give a girl the right pair of shoes, and she can conquer the world." Who said this line was only valid for stilettos and fancy pumps? Ever tried putting on a pair of running shoes, only to conquer the world, one race at a time. Well, if you haven't, then you better start now. Because running (or even a fast jog) can do wonders to your overall health, skin and can help balance your lifestyle in many ways more than one. And imagine, this comes from someone who has done all things fitness and dance, but never tried her hand at running in school. Nope, not even in college. I stayed away from the sports day and would often use such days for dance rehearsals instead.
But somehow, I got attracted to running and slowly began my weekly training. This happened a few years back, when I realized that its not necessary for anyone to be a college champion, in order to be successful at running a marathon (full, half or even a 10 km race). Back in school, I never liked participating in 100 or 400 meter races. Blame it on my health and stamina. But today, I push myself everyday, in order to make sure that I set a new goal every week. Its all about focusing on breaking the record timings set in the past. Running is 90 per cent mental and 10 per cent physical. A lot depends upon your approach and then of course, the diet, lifestyle and fitness levels. If you still haven't taken the plunge, I suggest you do it soon. Nothing can be more refreshing than a long run in the open space. Its a lot better than a treadmill, trust me. And if you have got the right pair of shoes (like I found my 'sole-mate' in these gorgeous Nike flex 2014 running shoes) and running kit, then no one can stop you! A good pair of track pants or tights is a must. Must add, this pretty Nike Dri-Fit tee that supports the We Run Mumbai campaign was just what I needed at the marathon to flaunt my love for both running and the beloved city. And now, I wear this super comfortable outfit to my regular jogs and runs too.
Still need inspiration? Head to the Sports Authority of India Complex at Kandivali (Mumbai), every Saturday at 6 am. Join the Nike+ Run Club and get your runner's high on.

Training like a Pro | Nike (Part II)
Before I start, here's wishing all the fans and readers of Diary of a Dancebee a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. Personally, 2014 has been a great year and I truly felt like the almighty has blessed me in the best way possible. I took some major decisions, drifted away from a few things and decided to hold on to things I love the most. And to be honest, I am glad I took this step. It gave me the confidence to believe in my work and rise above the usual. I can't thank my family enough for their support, but over and above everything, I must thank all of you. Yes, the readers and well wishers who stood by Diary of a Dancebee and my work for weeks and months, while I juggled a full time job as a journalist. While I do realize that the first half of 2014 saw days when there were no posts or updates, I promised myself to get back with a bang in the second half. And I, along with everyone associated with Diary of a Dancebee, did that in style. The brand transformed itself and presented new dimensions, that will continue to entertain the readers. Thank you for making 2014 a special year for me and Team Diary of a Dancebee. Keep showering your love! xoxo
And now, on to the second part of our 'Training like a Pro' feature with Nike.
While in the first part, we spoke about the fabric, technology, style that Nike swears by, along with putting together the perfect look for training in winters. I have now tweaked the look for a pre-training look (before heading to the gym) or for those want to see how they can style the same look for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2015. Remember, these looks are a sure no-no inside the training area, except for one shown towards the end, where we have kept the jacket aside. Post workout, you can put on the jacket again and head back home with it on, in order to keep your muscles warm and maintain the body temperature. If you catch the cold breeze in anyway, its really not a good thing for your body.

In case you plan to meet your friends before the workout and would like to jazz up the training outfit a bit, play with the way you are wearing that jacket. Wear it over your shoulders for that classic look or just go the casual way by tying it around your waist. These two looks never go wrong and can add a nice twist to the outfit. What's interesting is that Nike has got jackets in different fabrics and a fantastic variety of colors. If you are not the color loving individual, worry not, because you always have the good ol' black or grey option to choose from.
For the training period (and for those who don't want to carry a jacket along to a pre-workout meet up) can just pick a T-shirt in a pretty, bold color and opt for a material that is comfortable for all forms of exercise (be it aerobics, weight lifting, Pilates among others). Wear it with a pair of colorful track pants or workout leggings (or go the sober way by opting for a steel grey hue). Remember to tie your hair up in a neat pony tail or bun during the workout. Once done, leave it open so that the extra sweat doesn't stay there to build residue.
With 2015 just a day away, I am sure most of you would get down to jotting resolutions in a diary somewhere. Going back to the gym or getting fit will surely make its way to most resolution lists. If you are one of them, let me tell you one thing. If you do take up the challenge, don't leave it mid-way. The journey might be a tough one, but the results will only benefit you and that too, on a long term.
So get out there and Just do it!
Have a wonderful NYE and we shall see you in 2015, with tons of new articles, updates, videos and a brand new campaign!

Training like a pro | Nike
The road to fitness is not just about investing in good equipment and fancy food items. A very important aspect, that most people fail to take seriously, is the workout wear. Buying the right pair of shoes and apparel is a must. The market is filled with a variety of options, right from fancy running shoes, to training specific ones and even wraps (perfect for exercises that are traditionally performed bare feet). And when it comes to the perfect blend of fitness and a splash of colors, no one does it better than Nike.
Since childhood, I have been a workout wear hoarder and a trip to the Nike store always topped my agenda while shopping. Why? Well, my reasons as a kid was because I loved the way they play with bright colors (I love my workout gear in happy hues). Then as a teen, I absolutely adored their range of shoes, both for comfort and style (plus, my favorites - Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova wore Nike on the court, so I would always eye their limited edition gear). And as years passed by, I suddenly noticed that an entire shelf in my wardrobe is filled with Nike workout gear (apparel and accessories).
One glance at the Nike women range of apparel, accessories, shoes and you will notice that although the brand has successfully stuck to their signature elements, they have never shied away from experimenting. Be it with patterns, colors or constantly churning out different shoe technologies for specific needs, the brand has always dared to be different. A dash of neon green on teal or a stroke of steel grey on purple, every collection and the products part of it are sure to keep you happy.
But over and above every aspect, be it style, color among others, what I really love about the brand is their mission to offer every individual the technology that athletes swear by. From Dri-FIT fabrics to slim fit cotton tees, or Training shoes with upper mesh that allow room for air, thus improving breath-ability; each product focuses on not just improving your training and keeping injury at bay, but keeping you comfortable as well.
I chose hues of purple and teal for one of my recent trip to the joggers park. Keeping the cold weather in mind, and the fact that I always feel cold, no matter what, I paired this super comfortable hyperwarm mezzo training tights (made in an ultra-soft Dri-FIT jersey fabric, which helps keep sweat away and also keeps you warm) with a slim fit swoosh tee and of course my favourite - a full zip hoodie in cotton blend, to maintain the body temperature and keep it warm post a workout (which is essential). Keeping my feet comfy while I twist, twirl and jump is the Nike Studio Trainer. The fitsole sockliner with cushioned footbed makes this extremely lightweight pair of shoes a complete winner. While dancing (and jumping in between), I can land on the ball of my foot with ease, and the front mesh ensures that there is no trace of sweat inside (which is a boon in the otherwise humid climate that we deal with).
But that's not all, we have got another part of this post reserved for you.
Apart from talks on workout gear and our favorite items from Nike, we will be changing a few things here and there in the same outfit, to show off a different look.
Till then... Keep smiling, switch on your training mode and stay fit!
