The Body Shop British Rose Review
Pick of the Month | The Body Shop British Rose Review
Who doesn't love smelling like a bunch of fresh flowers and enjoying supple skin all day long? Well, we sure do and when the folks at The Body Shop introduced us to their new range - British Rose about a month back, we were both super happy and a little skeptical. Happy, because the packaging took our breath away, and skeptical because our past experiences with products that contain Rose as the main ingredient wasn't very memorable. Fortunately for us, the British Rose range was nothing like the stuff that made us cringe at the whiff of a strong rosy fragrance (remember, the kind of products that make you feel like you've bathed in rose attar). On the contrary, The Body Shop has got a luxurious and sinful collection in the form of British Rose, which is perfect to indulge in on a sultry afternoon. Read on to know more.
What? - The Body Shop British Rose Range
Products Reviewed: British Rose Body Scrub, British Rose Body Butter
Price: Rs 1295 and Rs 1095 respectively
Quantity: 250ml and 200ml respectively
What do they promise?: The British Rose range is a British interpretation of a timeless icon of femininity. Our organic roses are hand picked, air-dried and then infused. Giving us exceptional quality rose essence for our products, leaving you glowing.
The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub
What does it promise? - Exfoliating feels exquisite with this beautiful gel textured body scrub with real rose petals. Infused with the essence of roses from Britain, it effortlessly melts onto the skin and gently refines to reveal smoother, fresher skin.
Packaging: Housed in a chic black jar, which is sturdy and makes the product easy to use. We took it along on a trip and the product did not spill.
Our experience: Easily one of the best scrubs launched by The Body Shop in recent times, the British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub is gentle on the skin. True to its promise, the scrub leaves your skin feeling smooth and supple. The gel based texture of the scrub makes it perfect for even those with sensitive skin (and I am one of them). The rich fragrance of British Rose is soft and aromatic; enough to make your regular shower feel like a royal bath. The scrub does a great job of getting rid of dead skin cells and ensures that you leave the shower feeling clean and fresh. The fragrance lasts for a good 2-3 hours post shower.
The Body Shop British Rose Instant Body Glow Body Butter
What does it promise? - Indulge in dewy hydration with our first Body Butter with glow enhancing rose essence. Beautifully pearlescent, this velvety-soft moisturiser is light to the touch but rich on moisture. The product gives you an instant all-over healthy looking skin.
Packaging: This one is packed in the signature body butter jar by The Body Shop. Though, we like the rose pink hue, which makes the jar look very chic.
Our experience: Ah! The delightful aroma of hand-picked roses. Truly, The Body Shop has hit the bulls eye with this one. British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter is our favourite from the range. While we can't vouch for the 'glow' factor, it certainly does a great job of ensuring that your skin stays hydrated and soft for 6-7 hours. Plus, the fragrance is an added bonus, which is not too overpowering or subtle either. The soft, rosy aroma of the butter makes you feel fresh and delightful all day long. Keeping the humid weather of our city in mind, we were a bit nervous about applying a body butter on an afternoon that touched 36 degrees. However, despite being a body butter, the product is not too greasy or sticky. In fact, the silky butter glides on well and gets absorbed rather quickly. Perfect for dry and sensitive skin, especially those who are looking to pamper their skin and keep it well hydrated throughout the year. We loved it!
Pros
Delightful fragrance
The fragrance is not too overpowering
Elegant packaging
Rich and perfectly textured
Ensures soft and supple skin
Decent price points
Cons
The body butter has nothing to do with 'glow'
Verdict: This one is our 'Pick of the Month' for a reason. Our experience of using the products has been a pretty good one, especially the body butter. A shower with this scrub is equal to enjoying a luxurious bath with a tub full of water with rose petals. We highly recommend the British Rose range to those with normal to dry skin.

Za True White
Za True White Emulsion Review
Za True White Emulsion | Review
Za range of beauty products recently completed their first anniversary in India. Diary of a Dancebee has witnessed every major step that Za India has taken, be it the launch event, introducing innovative products or adding a customized touch to our compact kits. While there are more surprises in store for Za lovers (keep an eye out for updates), we recently came across the Za True White Emulsion and decided to test it. The super hot and humid climate right now calls for light products, that don't leave your skin feeling too heavy and oily. Is the Za True White Emulsion your best bet this Summer? Read our full review to find out.
Product: Za True White Emulsion
Price: Rs 899
Quantity: 125 ml
What does it promise? - This Feather-light, non-oily emulsion easily permeates into the skin to give translucency, brightness and even-tone, while replenishing moisture levels for an incredibly soft and smooth skin.
Packaging: The product comes in an elegant white bottle, which is quite sturdy and travel friendly. The cap fits well, so your product won't spill. Since the bottle is slightly heavy, you may want to transfer some product into a smaller bottle, that can be carried for long journeys.
How to use? - Smooth an appropriate amount over face with hand or cotton pad after toner. Slowly apply the Emulsion from the center of the face outwards.
Texture: Though it may look like a runny, heavy moisturizer or lotion, the Za True White Emulsion is a perfect example of why you must not judge a book by its cover. The texture of this product is extremely light, silky and non-greasy. Within seconds after application, the product gets absorbed and leaves a dewy finish, giving your skin a hydrated glow after a few minutes. The lightweight texture of this product is one of its biggest plus points.
Overall experience: This product was tested for a month and was used regularly at night (and sometimes, during the day as well). Despite the humidity in Mumbai, the product did not leave my skin feeling too oily or greasy. Instead, it hydrated my skin from within. Apart from moisturizing and hydrating, the emulsion also promises to suppress melanization, diminish dark spots, patchiness and blemish marks. It also promises to give you an even tone and removes excess skin surface cells. While the product didn't really work on a few blemish marks, it did add some brightness and glow to my overall complexion (no, I am not talking about fairness here. Not into the complexion color game). Since my skin got tanned during the week long Konkan sojourn, I am now looking forward to testing how it works on balancing my skin tone. Thanks to its smooth and light texture, the emulsion hydrates your skin completely and does not leave it patchy at all. The fragrance is decent - not very strong and is similar to other products from the True White range. For those who are on the look out for a moisturizer that can be used under any foundation, this is your best bet. Not only did it keep my skin supple for a good 5-6 hours, it also helped the foundation settle well. While almost everything about this emulsion is great, my only tiny worry was seeing Alcohol as part of its ingredients list. Another issue is that the emulsion has no SPF or UV protection, so you will have to lather on a separate cream or moisturizer for that.
Pros - Sturdy and elegant packaging
Lightweight texture, which is perfect for summer
Subtle fragrance
Keeps your skin hydrated, adds a nice glow
Tested by dermatologists
Perfect for application under a foundation
Well priced for the quantity and quality
Cons - Ingredients (Alcohol, Dimethicone)
No SPF or UV protection
Would be great if they launch a 50 ml travel size too
Verdict: For the price you pay and the impressive quality of this product, Za True White Emulsion is definitely a good buy. This is my new go-to product for the pre-foundation process, as it hydrates my skin very well and does not irritate the sensitive areas. Recommended, especially if you need a good moisturizer this summer that multitasks like a pro!

Summer Skincare Guide | Beat the Heat
Summer is back! Its time to sport your favorite dresses, colorful shorts and more. But it is also the season where our skin faces the maximum issues, thanks to the harsh sun rays and excessive humidity (or dry heat in some regions). Taking care of your skin is extremely important. Seasonal changes take a toll on your skin and it is necessary that you take care of your face and body, especially during Summer, when keeping your skin hydrated is essential. Hydrating face masks are your best bet this season. It helps in replenishing the skin's moisture level. I love making natural face masks at home rather than opting for a chemically treated one. Natural ingredients work best during this season, especially home made fruit or herbal masks. Due to the heat and dust all around, your skin tends to suffer from rashes, boils and worst, tanning.
Here are a few tips you can follow along with a mini recipe of a Summer pack which refreshes and cools your skin.

- Use a good sunscreen, but please remember, that you must re-apply the moisturizer or lotion in every 5-6 hours, depending on the number of hours spent under the sun. Invest in a good SPF moisturizer/lotion that suits your skin type. Also, look out for a good lip balm with SPF. Why should your lips alone suffer?
- If you sweat a lot, rub an ice cube on your face before applying the moisturizer. It helps keep your skin cool. I do that often (except when I have a cold). You can also opt for a face spritzer, fill it with ice cold water/rose water and carry it in your bag. Spray it before applying your moisturizer and re-spray whenever required.
- Umbrellas, Hats, Shades; they are all a must have in your handbag.
- Eat healthy food items. Avoid junk food (especially fried, spicy and sour items). What you eat shows on your face. Include green leafy veggies, fruits and don't forget to drink lots of water. It helps in flushing out your toxins.
- Exercise and Be happy! A smile can keep all those blues away :)
DIY Summer Mask
Ingredients
1/2 cup Oatmeal
1/4 cup Watermelon
1/4 cup Cucumber
Procedure - Add grated watermelon and cucumber to the oatmeal and mix all the ingredients. Apply the thick paste on your face and keep it for 10 minutes. Rinse off with water after that. This works as a wonderful coolant.
Note: Results may vary based on skin type. Ensure you get a patch test done before trying the mask.
