Best Nude Lipsticks for Indian Skin Tones
So, I recently went shopping for a new lipstick, considering my vanity is packed with lippies in shades of red and pink. I've been on the hunt for a perfect nude lipstick, that matches my skin tone and is subtle enough for strictly formal meetings, workshops among others. I shortlisted a few favourites, before trying them out at the store and finally zeroed in on the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in 62 (Libre). It's a wonderful natural nude for my lips, and despite the matte formula, keeps your lips surprisingly hydrated (thanks to the key ingredients - Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter).
However, there is a nude lipstick made for every skin tone and blindly going in for something that suits a celebrity or your favourite MUA isn't always the right thing to do. The Candy Cane Saga | Outfit Post
Almost everyone around me is going gaga over this game called candy crush saga. Although I am a hardcore gaming fan, I just don't understand the hype around this one. I still prefer my good ol' candies and candy cane striped dresses over anything else. So last week, I decided to bring out my favorite dress and wear it at the India International Jewellery Week at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. As I don't get time to work on outfit photo - shoots during rest of the week, I managed to get a few photographs captured in between shows.
After neon, stripes are hands down my favorite trend. Although the trend has been around since quite some time, it got a big boost in spring/summer 13. If worn with the right accessories, it can pass off as both chic and glamorous. Candy canes, which dominated the runway at Marc Jacobs showcase as well, have been my favorite since childhood. Guess, somethings never change.

Review | March Vellvette Box
As you all know, I subscribed to Vellvette box in February. Last time, they surprised me with a Valentine's day special box. This month, the black box came home with a colorful ribbon tied around it. It was a Holi special box (and I think the Vellvette team has done fantastic job with the overall packaging). Let's take a look at what I got this time.
March Vellvette Box - NYX Lip gloss, Remy Laure cleanser and night serum samples, Perry Ellis perfume sample, and Lush dream cream (hand and body lotion). Along with all this, they have also given a packet of Amino collagen skin glow samples.

Pretty Little Goodies
Honestly, I am bored of studying! I really don't understand why do we need to study so much. I feel like reading practically everything except my syllabus reference books. My bookshelf is filled with all kinds of books (Reference books for exams, fiction/ non-fiction novels, biographies etc) and some books have been calling out to me everyday,"In which century will my turn come"? But right now, I am surrounded by all the reference books, xerox copies of notes and everything else I need to study properly.
Sometimes I think, how I wish a place like Hogwarts existed (Yes! I love Harry Potter).
Coming back to the post, this one is totally random.
Of Birthdays, Celebrations and some Shopping!
I've always been a big fan of Birthdays and Celebrations since childhood. I start getting excited about my birthday a month in advance. My parents think that the excitement might die down with every passing year, but it just doesn't. The university exams played spoilsport this year as I had an important exam, just a day after my birthday. Nevertheless, I don't really believe in giving up and hence, I went ahead with my birthday plans. As usual, I celebrated my birthday in Shirdi with my family. It was fun, but I had to come back home the same day (reached Mumbai post midnight) and study all night before entering the exam hall to write my paper.

Once again, my dad decided to gift me a wrist watch. This time, he opted for a Swatch with metal straps and blue dial. Its beautiful, exactly what I wanted. I've been eyeing a couple of Swatch watches for a really long time. It looks classic. Just that I couldn't wear it on my birthday as the strap had to be altered. The picture is not that clear, but its a beautiful watch.
I managed to shop for some make up items that are missing from my vanity kit. I had to discard all my old eye shadows and some of my old lipsticks as well. So I decided to say HELLO to a new eyeshadow palette from NYX (Caribbean collection). The palette has 5 wonderful bright, pop colours which are perfect for this season. Moreover, I wanted these colours since a really long time. I find this palette extremely cute because of the colours.
Also, I picked up a lipstick from Revlon called 'Cherries in the snow'. Its a beautiful hue of Pink and Red. While experimenting, I decided to blend this lipstick with the NYX soft matte lip creme in Milan. The result was a creamy pinkish red hue on my lips which ended up looking wonderful. (I don't have a picture of me with that lipstick on, but I will click one the next time I wear it). Blending two lipsticks is always fun!
Exams haven't been treating me all that well! Honestly, I don't really like the concept of exams and the pressure and stress that goes with it. But then, its a part and parcel of life and you have to deal with it. Can't wait for these exams to end so that I can start dancing to my heart's content, get back to my usual fare of workouts and BLOG BLOG BLOG!!!

Little things in my Vanity Kit
We all have our favourites. Be it books, music albums, movies, clothes or make up. There are things that we cant live without (which in my case is a Lip balm) and then there are things which continue to tempt us till we don't go out and buy them (which in my case at the moment is a lipstick by MAC). Whenever I go out to buy make up products, there are a few things I keep in mind before buying them -
- The mfg and expiry date
- The quality of the product
- The price (as I buy things according to a fixed budget in order to control my splurge limit)
- How well it gels with my skin tone (if they product in question is a foundation, lipstick, eye shadow etc)
Once I'm sure of all the above mentioned things, I buy the product. Over the past couple of months, I've had a new list of favourite goodies in my Vanity kit (and a new Make up kit as well). Here's a sneak peek into my Vanity box.
MakeUp Post - NYX items
So the other I decided to splurge on some items at the New Beauty Centre (Bandra, Mumbai). Had a long list of 'Must Buy'items, but I had to be sweet to my wallet as well. And anyway, I splurge on such times occasionally (Although NYX tempts me to keep buying). Apart from the usual self help items, I got some stuff from the NYX counter (My new, crazy stop). Here's a sneak peek -
1. NYX advanced salon formula nail polish - Pastel Coral NPS229
Tried on different colors before I zeroed in on this one. It was tough! But Pastel Coral won as its perfect for Summers. Tried it the moment I reached home and trust me, its superb. Lasted for almost 14 days without chipping off. I'm definitely gonna stock up on some more NYX nail polishes. Its a bit heavy on the pocket (Rs 280), but it sure is a good investment!
2. NYX soft matte lip cream - Addis Ababa
Its SO pink! Its SO me!!! The moment I saw this, I made up my mind that I MUST buy this. Its a soft matte lip cream that gives you a velvety, soft look without drying your lips (Trust me, I've had issues with all those old matte lipsticks). It is well saturated and opaque. The colour looks like a candy mark on your lips! It lasted for around 2 1/2 hours after application and continued to look nice with a small dab of lip balm. I cant wait to get my hands on more colours from this range. How much does it cost you may ask? Well, This little beauty costed me 600rs. And yes, it matches my laptop too :)
3. NYX Jumbo eyeliner Hot Pink 621
This was picked up to complete my 'Pink Makeup Kit'. Its so girly and cute! The best part, it doubles up as a eyeshadow as well (Simple! Apply and smudge). Just one simple line and done, You will end up looking like a barbie doll straight out of the Swan Lake series. But please, avoid pairing it up with the addis abiba lip matte cream. Too much pink looks awful! This one costed 400rs.
4. NYX round lipstick LSS 507
I've been waiting to wear this one. The right time is still not here, but its just perfect for summer. The orange tinge with a litte bit of shimmer makes it perfect for both day and night wear. Its a shimmery,creamy bright apricot orange. The best part is that other brand sell products similar to this with lesser options to choose from for 500-700rs. This one is a good quality product and lasted for around 4 hours when I first used it. And its available for just 320rs. Thats a steal and I'm SO going back to pick up some more shades.
So thats it! These were my four BIG buys from the last shopping trip to NBC. Next up is my BIG birthday month and I just might end up buying some more stuff.
