Director Raj Kumar Gupta who is known for his films like Aamir and No One Killed Jessica is back after a hiatus with Raid – an Ajay Devgn, Ileana Dcruz and Saurabh Shukla starrer. The story and dialogues have been penned by Ritesh shah, while Tanishk Bagchi and Amit Trivedi have scored the music.
Raid is based on a famous Income Tax raid of the 80s. In this film, we see the raids being led by Deputy Commissioner Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn) - an honest, dedicated officer, who is tipped off about crores of rupees in cash and valuables stashed in Sitagarh -- the ‘White House’ of Lucknow, which belongs to a goon-cum-politician - Rameshwar 'Rajaji' Singh (Saurabh Shukla). Going against Rameshwar Singh is a huge step that can lead to Patnaik losing his job, dignity, and even his wife (Ileana Dcruz). But, Patnaik believes in his instinct and raids the palace that belongs to Singh. The raids begin, however, the department is unable to find anything. That's when the much needed twist arrives, as the team gets a lead on where the actual money and assets are hidden. Will the income tax department be successful in extracting all the black money out? Will Singh put his best shot to stop this raid? Who is that one person from Singh's family who has tipped off Amay Patnaik? As usual (and as we always say) - You gotta watch the film to find out!
Bagchi and Trivedi's music is average. Tanishk has recreated two of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's well known songs. However, they are not really needed in the flow of this film. While the film keeps you on the edge of your seat, one feels that the second half tends to get a little dragged. However, if you look at the overall presentation, we like the pace and flow of the film.
Shukla's portrayal of Rajaji might just be the next iconic role for him (after the well known 'Kalu Mama' from Satya). His performance is packed with multiple layers, ranging from comedy to rage and manipulation. Overall, he delivers a powerful act. His command in several major scenes is epic. Illeana D’Cruz as Malini - the dutiful wife of Patnaik, is good. One can see her looking beautiful in a saree again after Barfi and Baadshaaho. However, she has less scope in the film, and limited screen presence. The supporting cast is very impressive; especially Amit Sial as Lallan - a corrupt I-T officer, Sulagna Panigrahi and Sadanand Verma who play pivotal characters from Rameshwar Singh's family. And, one cannot ignore the veteran 85-year-old Pushpa Joshi, who plays Saurabh Shukla's mother in the film. For a debut performance, Joshi has great energy and always lightens up the screen.
However, the real 'show stealer' is none other than the lead protagonist! Ajay Devgn as Amay Patnaik is flawless. His intense look, one liners and verbal duals with Singh (Shukla) steal the show. The two actors play against one other with brilliant understanding. As Patnaik, he shows great courage in handling the authorities, including the Prime Minister of India (as shown in the film). He also ensures the safety of his team, while carrying out the risky raid. Devgn effortlessly speaks with his eyes in major portions of the film. The actor has always been known for his intense, powerful performances and Raid is no exception. Fans of Ajay Devgn will like his persona in the film.
Raid is very relevant in India, especially during the times that we live in. We wish and hope there are more 'Amay Patnaiks' in the department and they never let down the people of India. We need them today more than ever, at a time when corrupted politicians are still making money and continue to rule their thrones for a long time.

The Bollywood Prisma Love
Apps these days create a rage within minutes of their launch. While Pokémon Go has got game lovers from across the globe hooked on, another app became a hot favourite, hitting the #1 spot on the App store last fortnight (don't fret, the beta version of the app is now finally available on Android). Yes, we are talking about Prisma - the art photo editor that has got everyone addicted to its cool picture effects and superb filters.
Almost everyone on Instagram and Facebook are busy giving their current profile pictures or new selfies a spin with the art-attack that Prisma has to offer. And well, the bug has bitten our b-town folks as well. Over the weekend (and of course, during the week too), we saw several celebrities showing off their artistic side by playing up with Prisma effects on their pictures. We got together some of the best celebrity 'prisma-fied' images spotted on Instagram and other social media platforms.

We got together some of the best celebrity 'prisma-fied' images spotted on Instagram and other social media platforms.
Varun Dhawan - Instagram @varundvn
Varun Dhawan has been making the most of this app by turning images clicked during film promotions (and some private selfies) into what he likes to call - street art. During our recent interview, Dhawan confessed that he is quite fond of the app and likes to experiment with the available effects on various images from his gallery.
Sidharth Malhotra - Instagram @s1dofficial
Just like his Student of the Year co-star, Sidharth Malhotra too joined the Prisma bandwagon recently. He posted a rather filmy picture of himself with casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Keep em coming, Sid! We are loving these filmy shots.
Shahid Kapoor - Instagram @shahidkapoor
It won't be wrong to confess that we love Shahid's Instagram feed. He has always left us in awe with his fantastic photography skills in the past (and let's not forget, those intense selfies that we absolutely love). This time, it looks like Shahid has got Prisma to help him add an artistic touch to his amazing (and should we add, super sexy) photographs. He recently shared this image with the caption 'This is fun' on Instagram and we must say, that's one helluva fierce look.
Jacqueline Fernandez - Instagram @jacquelinef143
Jacqueline always gets her social media game on point. From giving us a sneak peek into the backstage madness on Snapchat to posting some seriously hot photo shoot images on Instagram; Jacqueline does it all in style. Recently, she shared a picture with her team (while getting ready for the first episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa ) and added a touch of the Illegal Beauty filter on Prisma. The team that takes selfies together, stays beautiful together.
Sonakshi Sinha - Instagram @aslisona
Art for an art, quite literally. Sonakshi loves unwinding by painting or adding finishing touches to her pending artwork. If you follow her on Snapchat, you will be in love with this super talented girl's work. In her Prisma debut, Sonakshi added an image where she is seen looking at her artwork rather closely. The caption explained her love for paintings and she further went on to explain how it leaves her feeling relaxed. Way to go, Sona!
Arjun Kapoor - Instagram @arjunkapoor
Arjun has got a rather eye-catching Kenzo tee on him. The actor, who recently turned voice actor with Ice Age: Collision Course in Hindi, posted this image on Friday, with the perfect caption that went - "Eye got my eye on you." Good one, Arjun!
Alia Bhatt - Instagram @aliaabhatt
Alia Bhatt was among the first Bollywood celebrities to get hooked on to Prisma. While her first image was a selfie, the next one turned out to be the first look of her upcoming film with Shah Rukh Khan titled Dear Zindagi. In her latest post, all jazzed up by Prisma, the actress is seen riding a horse and sporting a cool look. We wonder if this is another sneak peek of her upcoming film? Yes, Alia?
Ileana D'cruz - Instagram @ileana_official
After starring opposite Saif Ali Khan in Happy Ending, Ileana will be back on the big screen with Rustom this year. The actress kickstarted promotional activities for the film wearing a Rutu Neeva outfit and posted a 'look of the day' image on her Instagram account. Later, the same photograph was posted, albeit with a Prisma twist. The actress finally gave in to her temptation of using the app and perfectly captioned it with the hashtag - #jointheherd
