Birthday Special | 37 reasons why we love Shahid Kapoor
For Shahid Kapoor fans (or should we say, Shanatics), February 25 is a special day. After all, their favourite star turns a year older today. Here's wishing this amazingly talented actor and a fabulous human being - Shahid Kapoor, a very happy birthday. Well, it is hard to believe that Shahid Kapoor turns 37 today. I mean c'mon, thirty-seven? Are you freakin' kidding me? Either we are stuck in 2005 or Shahid can seriously give any 25-year-old a run for his money. The actor, with his new look for Batti Gul Meter Chalu, just keeps looking better with each passing day (And no, by that, we don't mean he didn't look good yesterday. We love him and will always swear by his suave personality). We got to see very little of him in 2017, with just Rangoon (which released on his birthday last year) hitting the headlines. However, it's amazing how 2018 has started off with a bang for the fabulous actor, as he 'royally' entered the 500 crore club with his flawless portrayal of Maharawal Ratan Singh in Padmaavat. As well wishers, we truly hope this year turns out to be yet another milestone year in Shahid's career! And now, on to the post. Honestly, we don't really need a reason to love him. I mean, just look him. He is such a charmer! Nevertheless, we decided to give you 37 reasons to love the birthday boy - Shahid Kapoor. Here we go!
1. The 'Impossible is Nothing' approach
Shahid is one of the very few actors who has made his way up there on his own merit. We all know that he believed in the 'Impossible is Nothing' mantra and needless to say, has come a long way with several awards in his kitty today.
2. Those dance moves!
Oh yeah! He's got the moves like... err Shahid. The actor is blessed with two fabulous feet that can dance and how. He has got the perfect blend of foot work and expressions, which is very rare. Easily one of the best dancers in Bollywood today.
3. Oh-so-humble!
People who have interacted with Shahid will tell you how humble the actor is! He prefers being modest and allows his work to do all the talking.
4. So Unique!
Be it the way he winks or the manner in which he folds his fingers while walking / posing. Or even the way he brings his index finger close to his lips while thinking (or better - the 'shut up' pose). We have some very cute observations of Shahid that we just can't get enough of!
5. Music is Everything
The actor can't live without a dose of music in his everyday life. So much that a few years back, he had even set up a music mixer at his place and would often post Instagram videos of himself, experimenting with sounds. He even shared playlists and recommendations from Sound Cloud on Twitter.
6. Infectious Energy
Those around him will tell you that Shahid's energy and enthusiasm can be quite infectious. Even his interviews are full of fun. Even on the dance floor, there is no stopping him, as the actor is known to get 'high' on dancing and non-stop music.
7. Vegetarian by Choice
We respect anything and everything that an individual does as a personal choice. For Shahid Kapoor, turning vegetarian was nothing to do with religion or being forced. It was a personal choice and must say, PETA was right in calling him one of the hottest vegetarians alive!
8. My father, My idol
Shahid has always been close to his family and it is always a delight to watch him talk about his father, Pankaj Kapur. The actor looks up to his father as an idol and respects his work. So much, that while working together in the film Shaandaar, Shahid unknowingly ended up giving some really OTT (over the top) shots on the first day, just because his father was around. It took some time for him to get comfortable.
9. Those Eyes!
Ever tried looking in to those dreamy eyes, only to get lost for hours? Well, we haven't either. But those who have, are proof that those magical eyes are everything.
9. Those Eyes!
Ever tried looking in to those dreamy eyes, only to get lost for hours? Well, we haven't either. But those who have, are proof that those magical eyes are everything.
10. Sibling Wala Love
Just like any other elder brother, Shahid is extremely protective about his siblings. He is often seen praising Ishaan and Sanah on Twitter for their respective talents. While the latter made her debut with Shaandaar, the former is all set to make his mark with Karan Johar's production venture - Dhadak. And of course, Shahid has confessed that he has always got their back. Sweet, no?
11. Experiment, always!
Shahid has never shied away from experimenting with his films or characters. If he is Haider Meer, he gets ready to turn into Jamadar Nawab Malik and then, Maharawal Ratan Singh; one film after another. The actor believes that there is no fun in doing anything that has already been done.
12. The Caring husband
Seen those images of Shahid posing with his wife, just after the wedding ceremony? Or even those where the paparazzi snapped the duo outside their house? What's common between the two? The fact that Shahid never lets go off his wife's hand and is extremely caring. Remember this quote? "When I fall head over heels in love with a girl, I will tie her to my side and never let her go." Well, now we know.
13. Mumma's Beloved Son
Shahid is also known to be very close to his mom. The actor, who spent his early years in Delhi and later shifted to Mumbai, gets his dancing genes from Mom Neelima Azim (who is a renowned trained classical dancer).
14. Not the one to walk on tested waters
Shahid likes being in an ambiguous space, where he can figure out how he can fit into a role and give his best. He is one of the very few actors who finds ambiguity (while making a film) very exciting. Well, no wonder he always manages to impress us with his new avatars.
15. That Beard!
Well, we are not big fans of the big beard look. But one look at Shahid in a beard and we had to change our opinion. No one makes a beard look that good!
16. Same look? Nah!
Experiments are not just restricted to roles. We have seen Shahid change multiple looks in the past couple of years. From the clean shaven chocolate boy to going bald, sporting a crew cut and even a man bun, the actor has done it all. Tough to choose a favourite, though.
17. Keeping it Casual
The actor loves to keep it simple and casual. He is one of the few actors who can make sports luxe look great even on the red carpet. The easy going, casual vibe of his outfits have now become a signature style. While off duty, he loves his gym tracks and ganjis.
18. Haider
Doing a film like Haider, stepping into the shoes of Haider Meer, giving the film your all and believing Vishal Bharadwaj's vision. If there is anyone who could do this and come out with flying colours, it was Shahid Kapoor! We can never stop praising his work in this film.
19. Never say Never
There have been instances where the actor got hurt or has shot under extreme conditions, just to ensure that he leaves no stone unturned to make his shot / dance track look good. For instance, the actor ended up with multiple bruises while rehearsing for Gandi Baat, but he didn't allow any hurdle to stop him working dancing like a dream.

20. Mass bhi, Class bhi
Very few actors can get that transition right, but Shahid does it with ease. If he can win hearts as the charming Aditya Kashyap or be the loveable Prem, he can also do the Gandi Baat in R... Rajkumar and make you go Dhating Naach as the fake cop Vishwas Rao in Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.

21. Friends forever
The actor is known to be a private person and loves hanging around with his pals. Apart from a few of his school and college friends, he is also known to be good friends with designer Kunal Rawal and producer Madhu Mantena. It was cute to see him perform at Mantena's sangeet and being a constant support during the wedding festivities a few years back.
With his flawless portrayal of Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met, Shahid Kapoor made us believe that Mr Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) exists. The actor gave us an Indianised version of the popular character in the form of Aditya (Jab We Met). Less talk, coz Aditya's eyes did all the talking.
23. Oh! He can Cook
The actor has confessed that he loves simple, home cooked meals. He loves his share of ghar ka khana, especially Rajma Chawal. But what's interesting is the fact that Shahid can cook and loves making parathas - be it aloo or cheese. Also, he isn't too fussy about his food. He is as comfortable eating at a roadside stall as he is in a fancy restaurant.

24. Biker Boy
Shahid is known to have a fleet of luxury cars, including a customised Jaguar. But, he also loves his Harley Davidson Fat Boy. The actor is a fan of long drives and likes to zoom around on his bike or car during free time.

25. Stylish foot Forward
While Shahid continues to confess that he is still trying to figure out his personal style, his sartorial choices have always made heads turn. The actor loves his tuxedos and is often seen making a dapper appearance at award shows and events. In fact, he has been awarded with several Style Icon awards as well. Our favourite look on him? The sleek black tuxedo.
26. Not without my Workout
Shahid can give even the laziest man on planet earth some serious inspiration to get up and workout! If that lean, toned body wasn't enough, the actor often posts videos and images that give us major fitness goals. But, there's one thing you must know - like a dedicated fitness lover, Shahid likes to focus on his workout during the session and avoids every other element - including selfies or even posing for pictures. For fans who want a picture or autograph, the actor patiently takes time out post his workout and obliges their requests. Now, if you ever need a fitness idol, Shahid is the one. Hell Yeah!!!
28. Sense of Humour
Anyone who has interacted with Shahid will tell you how he has the ability to make you laugh, while maintaining a straight face. Shahid has a great sense of humour. His one-liners are hard to miss even during an interview. And we really think he is a great mimic (haven't we seen glimpses of his talent at a few award functions already?)
29. Philosophy
While we love his sense of humour, we are also fans of his philosophical thoughts. Although the actor denies being philosophical or giving out motivational gyaan, his thoughts and quotes have often inspired folks on social media (and even us, during interviews). In fact, there is also a Twitter fan account dedicated to his quotes.
30. Focus and Dedication
Shahid likes being focused. His dedication towards his work and himself (be it while working in a film or working out at a gym) is awe inspiring. He is also known to be a perfectionist and believes in giving his best.
32. Love for 'Maamu'
Everybody knows that Shahid shares an extremely special bond with Maamu, his man friday who has been with the actor since the former's kiddie days. He is also known as Shahid's one man army and the actor can't do without him. Shahid's love for his 'maamu' is absolutely adorable!
33. Kaminey
We loved him in Kaminey! It takes some real guts to take up a film, which takes you out of a comfort zone and pushes you to do something completely different, at a time when you have given a blockbuster hit like Vivah - a family drama. But, Shahid accepted this challenge like a pro and the result? An award winning performance. Oh, and no one can run the way he did. Period.
34. Normal life
Despite all the glamour and spotlight that his occupation brings along, Shahid likes leading a normal life. After a long day at work, he loves enjoying his cuppa with loved ones, chit - chatting and watching the world pass by. Some of his Instagram videos, where he is often seen enjoying sunsets while sitting at the deck of his suburban residence, are also proof. Don't we all love doing that too?
37. That dimpled smile is everything!

35. Misha's Darling Papa
Shahid's life revolves around his darling daughter - Misha (who is absolutely adorable). The doting dad confessed that his life changed and took a beautiful turn, ever since the little angel was born. He is loving every minute of this role. We love how Shahid took to his social media account and introduced his daughter with an adorable post. Since then, we have been blessed with some oh-so-cute images of the daddy-daughter duo, that makes our heart melt! Keep em' coming, we say.
36. FANtastic
Shahid has always been vocal about his love for all the fans, who keep supporting him no matter what. His 'Shanatic' fandom is huge and has spread across the globe, right from Russia to Germany, Australia to Canada. There are several fan accounts dedicated to the actor and he acknowledges their love and faith in his work by checking their creations, special tweets and even replying to some of the fans.

Tribute | The Charm and Legacy of Sridevi
In a shocking turn of events, actress Sridevi passed away last night. The legendary star, along with her family members, was in Dubai to attend a wedding. While initially, reports suggested that the actress suffered a massive cardiac arrest. However, it was only after some investigations and procedures in Dubai that the cause of her demise was stated to be 'Accidental Drowning'.
According to a news report on Indian Express, brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed the news about Sridevi's demise. He further added, "I just landed here. I was in Dubai, and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened around 11:00 - 11:30. I don't know anymore details yet." The actress was in Dubai to attend Mohit Marwah's wedding and was accompanied by husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi. She was 54.
With her untimely death, the actress has left behind a legacy that is simply unmatchable. The Padma Shri awardee was India's First Female Superstar in the Hindi film industry, and went to earn awards, accolades and millions of hearts across the globe. Her contribution to cinema is nothing less than a glorious chapter. In a career spanning multiple decades, Sridevi worked in several renowned films across industries and languages, including - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. She made her first appearance as a child artist at the age of four. Tamil film Moondru Mudichu marked her first role as an adult, where she was paired opposite two of South India's biggest superstars - Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Sridevi delivered some of Hindi cinema's finest gems in the 80s and 90s. With films like Chandni, Sadma, Lamhe, Mr India, Chaalbaaz among others, the actress had cemented her position as a Superstar and went on to deliver super hits, that too as the lead protagonist in most films. Of course, she was a rage down South and delivered smashing hits. She is one of the few female actors to have a great success ratio across various industries.
The actress starred in Judaai (1997) as Kajal - a middle class wife with big dreams. Her effortless portrayal earned her rave reviews and multiple nominations. Sridevi filmed portions of this film while being pregnant with her first child. However, the actress decided to take a break after the child - Jahanvi, was born. A few years later, the actress was blessed with another child - Khushi.
After a sabbatical of close to 15 years, Sridevi made a brilliant comeback with English Vinglish (2012). As a homemaker who takes up an English speaking course and gains immense self respect in the process, the actress was appreciated by her fans and critics alike. Fans couldn't get enough of the simplicity and honesty with which she had essayed the role of Shashi Godbole. After the comeback, we also got frequent glimpses of her at red carpet events, where the stunning actress always made a splash with her stylish looks. Sridevi also turned showstopper at a jewellery fashion show in 2014 and looked every inch a goddess. Some of her recent pictures from the family wedding in Dubai created immense buzz, as Sridevi dazzled in custom Manish Malhotra outfits. Nobody would have ever thought that these would turn out to be some of her last images.
Her last release - Mom, earned her an award for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards 2018, apart from nominations at various award functions. There were reports doing the rounds that she was being approached for some films. She has also shot for a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's next - Zero. It is devastating to know that we won't get to see the charming actress on the silver screen ever again. The fact that she is no more is yet to sink in. But, her timeless classics will continue to inspire. They shall ensure her stories, performances and legacy lives on forever.
A legendary actress who ruled the silver screen with her supreme talent. A diva, who turned heads with her impeccable style and picture perfect looks. It wouldn't be wrong if we call it - The End of an Era.

Birthday Special | 8 Times Shahid Kapoor Burned The Dance Floor Like A Boss
We are celebrating Shahid Kapoor's birthday! So, when ones talks about this multi-talented artist, how can anyone not discuss his dance moves? For someone who is legendary Kathak performer and actress Neelima Azim's son, dance has got to be in his genes. Although Shahid did try to learn a few Kathak moves during his childhood days, he did not continue to completely master the art. Instead, he enrolled at the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts during his teens and became an instructor (Did you know? His batchmates and colleagues have great things to say about him).
He went on to perform at several shows, and was even seen shaking a leg next to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Taal. But when it comes to Shahid taking the centre stage, he performs like a true boss. He owns the spotlight and gets into the groove like a true dance lover. The actor has given us some delightful dance performances, in both his films and stage shows. Here's presenting a list of our favourites.
Gandi baat - R... Rajkumar
Trust Prabhu Dheva to make Shahid dance like a true blue tapori at a desi daru adda. When the first glimpse of this song was released, the entire nation went berserk. From the floor section moves to those fun, quirky expressions; Shahid nailed this Prabhu sir's style of choreography like a pro. Though Shahid confessed that this wasn't his kind of style and it was difficult to learn the moves (he even injured his toe), like a real focused artist, Shahid showed us that nothing is impossible. Masses at the single screens went ballistic when this song came up, and were even seen performing in front of the screen and throwing money as well.
Bismil - Haider
If there is any song in the recent times that has left us with goosebumps all over, it has to be Bismil. This visually stunning piece was a treat to watch on the big screen. Suresh Adhana's choreography, matched with Shahid's perfect movements and expressions made this song undoubtedly the best of 2014. It was also Shahid's first tryst with an out-and-out Kashmiri folk dance on screen.
Shaam Shaandaar - Shaandaar
Look at those moves! I mean - JUST LOOK AT THOSE MOVES. While Shaandaar may not be one of your favourite films starring the actor, we were thankful to the almighty (and the choreographer) for giving us a glimpse of the Kapoor boy's impeccable moves. In a red hot jacket, the actor makes a smashing entry and literally OWNS the dance floor with his flawless performance. The song - Shaam Shaandaar, continues to be a hot favourite during the wedding season, and needless to say, we can't help but shake a leg à la Jagjinder Joginder!

Mauja hi Mauja - Jab We Met
Talk about Shahid's best dance performances and how can we not feature the incredible Mauja hi Mauja? We have lost count of the number of times we have aped Shahid's flawless moves from this song at dance shows and college festivals. Every one around was keen on performing to this track, while doing the signature step. The song went on to become one of the top party numbers in 2007, and even today, people can't stop themselves from shaking a leg when this track is played on radio, television or at an event.
Tu Mere Agal Bagal - Phata Poster Nikhla Hero
Admit it! No one could have done that doggie step the way Shahid has. During an earlier interview, choreographers Bosco - Caeser had confessed to us that it was Shahid's enthusiasm and dedication that made it easier for them to try something unique. The actor is always game for something fun and the fact that he enjoyed performing on this number translated on screen. Everybody was in love with the quirky moves and the way Shahid had added extra charm to it. Even we couldn't stop ourselves from doing the doggie dance on repeat.
Sang mere bol hadippa - Dil Bole Hadippa
Another party number that became an instant rage. Shahid Kapoor's smooth moves and suave personality made this one a must watch. And we think he looked super cool while matching steps with Rani Mukerji. Again, the choreography was decided keeping in mind Shahid's excellent potential, especially his foot work. This song too, like some of his other popular dance number, was a hit among the youngsters.
Dhan te nan - Kaminey
That one track which shook the country, making everyone rise their hands up in the air with a fist pump to do the signature step. Kaminey was an important film in Shahid's career, but it was this song that became his trademark style. Wherever he went, the song would immediately pop up and the audience would request him to shake a leg on it. The two Vishals - Dadlani and Bhardwaj, created pure magic with this number, with Shahid getting into the groove with great ease and style.
Mujhpe Har Haseena - Ishq Vishk

This is where it all began. This is where we saw the 'Rise of a Star'. Shahid Kapoor's debut film made him the actor to watch out for. But above everything else, it was his performance in the medley 'Mujhpe har haseena' that made his female fans go weak in the knees. With some flawless air splits, insane moves and an affectionate smile that remained intact throughout the song, this was one helluva dance track. And, how can you just say no when a handsome guy asks - Kya mera chehra romantic hain?
Dhating naach - Phata Poster Nikhla Hero
Everybody loves some tapori dance, which you are most likely to see at Ganpati visarjan or marriages. When Shahid does it, he sure does it in style. Dhating Naach is one song that is still played at Baaraats and Ganesh immersion processions. Shahid's quirky expressions and 'Imma dance without inhibitions' moves were loved by one and all. And to think of it, this track was choreographed and shot in a tight schedule, with Shahid getting very little time for rehearsals. Hail Sasha!
Honestly, the list of our favorite performances is quite exhaustive. There are SO MANY of them!
Saree ke fall sa, Aai Paapi, Shabe Firaq, Aashiqui; the list is endless. But if there is anything that you must leave all your work for and sit in front of the laptop to watch, it is Shahid's first MJ tribute at the Filmfare awards in 2010. One of our favorite and hands down, Shahid's best stage act till date.
Click on the image to watch!
Boy! Is there anything this guy can't do? And who else got goosebumps while watching this act? We sure did, thanks to Shahid's perfect moonwalk and that unmatched footwork.

Action Reloaded - Baaghi 2 | Trailer Watch
The much anticipated trailer of Tiger Shroff's next - Baaghi 2, was launched earlier today and needless to say, it was a grand affair. If the power packed trailer is anything to go by, the film - sequel to Nadiadwala's production venture Baaghi (2016), promises to be a high octane action drama.
Ronnie (Shroff) is an army officer, who goes in search of his ex-lover's (Patani) child, who has been kidnapped. That sets the basic premises of the film. Of course, not without larger than life action sequences and daring stunts. The ensemble cast looks really interesting. As the trailer progresses, you are introduced to other key characters in the film, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda, Prateik Babbar among others. Bajpayee and Hooda's character looks particularly interesting, and we feel their performances will be one of the film's biggest strengths. Shroff looks ripped, strong and totally geared up to kick, punch and fly on repeat! His look is sure to become extremely popular and we feel the actor is all set to create an impact with his performance in the film. We get to see very few glimpses of Patani, who plays the lead actress. However, we hope her character stands out and makes a mark in the film, just like Shraddha Kapoor did in the previous instalment.
Earlier today, Shroff and his co-star, Disha Patani, launched the trailer in a rather unique way at an event. The duo made a stylish entry from a helicopter at the Race course in Mumbai, and later, were joined by close to 100+ fans; all of whom were excited to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars. They were even spotted wearing a red scarf or bandana on their hands, just like the duo. Shroff and Patani also gave the paparazzi some great shots, as the former did air splits and some fun poses. The trailer was later launched at a media event.

Interesting to note that Baaghi 2, helmed by film maker - choreographer Ahmed Khan, has been creating immense buzz ever since its announcement last year. The makers have been treating the audience (on social media) with some cool updates, and raised the anticipation level a notch higher. They even invited fans to be a part of the 'rebel' campaign by joining an activity.

Neeraj Pandey has given us some of the best 'edge of the seat' thrillers in recent times. Films like A Wednesday and Special 26 happen to be some of my all time favourites. And, when a film maker of his calibre brings together a fresh mentor - protégé pair in the form of Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra - two artists who have created a niche of their own (add to that, a massive fan following), one cannot help but get a little excited to watch the drama unfold on the big screen!
The film is an out and out thriller, where one dot connects to the other in true 'Neeraj Pandey' style. So much, that one cannot even afford to take a restroom break! If you end up missing the opening scene or make a fashionably late entry, be prepared to scratch your head till you can find the missing gaps and get back on track. Col Abhay Singh (Bajpayee) and Major Jai Bakshi (Malhotra) are part of a special Military unit. While the latter goes rogue after coming across explosive details related to an arms deal, the former takes it upon himself to find Bakshi and understand the reason as to why he picked the wrong path. One thing leads to another, the mentor - protégé face a fallout and thus, the cat-and-mouse chase begins (across Delhi, London, Kashmir among other key locations, where the film has been shot).

Apart from the lead protagonists, other principal characters who have performed well include Vikram Gokhale as the Army General, Kumud Mishra as an ex-Army Man, Adil Hussain as an arms dealer among others. Naseeruddin Shah's cameo as Baburao Shastri is good. There is also Sonia Gupta (Rakul Preet Singh) who plays a hacker, and Bakshi's love interest, and Pooja Chopra as a unit member. Sadly, the female characters in this film had very little to do and their performances were strictly okay. The film primarily focuses on the lead duo's journey, with characters from the ensemble cast intelligently interspersed in the narrative.

Aiyaar is an individual who disguises himself skilfully, leaving those around him completely baffled and surprised. Someone with magical, wizard like powers. In this film, there is a scene where Singh (Bajpayee) is referred to as an Aiyaar. Needless to say, Bajpayee's act will make you believe that there is nothing he can't do. Like a chameleon, he can transform into anything and leave you impressed. His powerful performance is a clear winner and it won't be wrong to say - the industry is blessed to have artists like Bajpayee. Another highlight is Malhotra's impeccable portrayal of the soldier gone rogue - Major Jai Bakshi. It is a treat to watch him play the forthright and smart Bakshi with such great ease. With every film, Malhotra has proved his mettle as an actor, adding a lot of effort and value to every character that he has portrayed on screen. And, this film is no different. Both Bajpayee and Malhotra's performance is the heart and soul of this film.
Sanjoy Chowdury's background score is fabulous and adds great value to the overall presentation. Rochak Kohli's music is interesting, though the film retains only one song. The dialogues are well penned, with some memorable lines that create an impact. While most of Pandey's favourite artists make a comeback, it is Bajpayee and Malhotra's fresh equation that leaves a mark. Their confrontation scenes are brilliant, with both actors staying true to their characters with the perfect personality, attitude and fine dialogue delivery. All this, without going too OTT!

While the film does well in some important departments, there some low points that stops Aiyaary from soaring higher than the sky. The film has a weak screenplay, which doesn't do much for the plot. Add to that - sloppy editing, especially in the second half. While the film has a good pace, it could have been a bit more crisp. Having said that, the performances and other key elements like BG score, dialogues hold fort and save the film from sinking completely. Plus, the film has a strong message that needs to be taken seriously, especially for the sake of current (read: us) and future generations.

With an important takeaway and some stellar acts, Aiyaary is an intelligent whodunnit! Fans of this genre will definitely enjoy the film. And of course, fans of Bajpayee and Malhotra - you guys are in for a well deserved treat.
Verdict: Do watch the film for Bajpayee and Malhotra's remarkable performances!
