Holi Hai! It's that time of the year again. Beautiful colours all around, scrumptious sweets to gorge on, and some quality time with your loved ones. If you ignore the annoying revelry and focus on the cultural aspect of Holi, you will realise that this festival is truly beautiful. Also, it goes way beyond the usual elements - water, bhaang, colours - that the festival has gained popularity for. It marks the arrival of spring, signifies the victory of good over evil and is celebrated as a 'thanksgiving' by the farmers for good harvest. The festival is spread over two days - while the first day is celebrated as Holika Dahan, the second is known as Dhulvandhan. In some parts of the country, celebrations continue all the way up to Rang Panchami (fifth day of the second fortnight in the month of Phalguna).

Well, if you are among those who prefers celebrating the festival with loved ones, without the usual revelry, with just a simple puja, good food and some fun time with music or karaoke (Nope! Not the one with tower speakers), then we've got the perfect filmy addition for you. Over the years, Holi has played an important role in most popular Bollywood films. It is one of Bolly land's most favourite on-screen festival (Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri comes a close second). Some of our favourite characters have displayed various emotions, including love, fun, sorrow, drama and even revenge with Holi as the backdrop (and an entertaining track to go with it). With Holi coming up on March 9 and 10 this year, we've got the ultimate Bollywood dance / karaoke playlist for you. Read on to know if your favourite is on the list!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
The Top Ranbir Kapoor Track Playlist | Birthday Special
Everybody loves Ranbir Kapoor. I mean, c'mon! In his nine-year-old career, RK has given us some of the best, most memorable films. Stuff that can be watched on repeat for days (Okay! maybe I'll let Saawariya and Besharam go, but I hope you get the drift). After Bombay Velvet and Tamasha last year (the latter being a favourite), Ranbir has kept things low key on both the professional and personal front for almost a year. In a recent interview, the actor confessed that he is using this time to reinvent and start his career as an actor from scratch. Well, this too shall pass. Every successful and talented actor hits a rough patch, only to rise like a phoenix with his / her next. And if the promos of his next, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, are anything to go by, we can already predict a huge BO success storm.
As the actor turns 33 today, we compiled a list of our favourite tracks, featuring RK (the list is pretty long, but we tried to zero it down to top 10). Songs that can be on loop all night, and shall continue to rock our playlists even the next day. Wish you a very Happy Birthday, Ranbir Kapoor. Shine On, always!
Khuda Jaane - Bachna Ae Haseeno
A delightful romantic track, stunning locales and a charming lead pair; what's not to love here? Also, I love the entire album. It was tough to choose just one track, but it had to be this.
Iktara - Wake Up Sid
Duh! Is there anyone who doesn't love this song? Come rains (actually, they just went) and you will see most filmy birds hanging out at Nariman Point, listening to this track, and feeling the rain on their face.
Bheegi Si - Raajneeti
Alright! This one's a personal favourite. Love the melodious composition by the late Aadesh Shrivastava. Also, this film is extremely under-rated.

Tera Hone Laga Hoon - Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani
Back in 2009, everybody I knew in class had this track on their iPods and phones, sometimes even as a ringtone (back then, Nokia music phones were a rage). Also, there was something about the Ran-Kat chemistry (Sigh!) that got everyone attracted to them. Suddenly, everyone around was either a Ranbir or Katrina fan. Sweet!
Tujhe Bhula Diya - Anjaana Anjaani
Clearly, RK was on a chartbuster spree! Just look at that graph. Adding to it was the soulful Tujhe Bhula Diya, featuring Ranbir and Priyanka Chopra. Remember using it for one of my contemporary dance routines back then.

Aashiyaan - Barfi!
A beautiful poetry in motion, with some of the most heartwarming tracks. Barfi! was a magical ode to love. An ode like no other. Performances that can melt your heart and make you smile. This was clearly one of Ranbir's most challenging and excellent performances till date. And, this song is enough to make your day.
Sadda Haq - Rockstar
Ah! My anthem. I absolutely swear by this one helluva incredible track, composed by the ace AR Rahman and performed beautifully by Mohit Chauhan. As Jordan in Rockstar, RK was in top form. Again, an album with way too many favourites. Tough to choose, but we had to pick one.
Dilliwali Girlfriend - Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Trust me, it's not easy to pick a favourite from an album that's as amazing as YJHD! While the heart goes with Balam Pichkari, the head clearly had other plans. Dilliwali Girlfriend won because of it's fabulous choreography (Yes! I loved it) and sizzling chemistry between the lead pair, Ranbir and Deepika. Also, this film is pure love! You can't help but watch it on repeat.
Matargashti - Tamasha
I don't care if this sounds repetitive, but it is extremely difficult to choose a favourite from such wonderful film albums! The film happens to be one of my favourite films from 2015, and I stand by everything positive that I had tweeted about the film (not the one to change stands. nope). Tamasha was beautiful and once again, Ranbir and Deepika stole the show with their unmatchable chemistry. While both Matargashti and Agar Tum Saath Ho are superb compositions, the former won purely because of it's fun value. This is one happy number, and is perfect to take your mood to the next level on a dull, boring day!
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - Title Track
And what's a Birthday special list without the latest chartbuster? The ADHM title track, composed by Pritam, is literally EVERYWHERE - rickshaws, phones, YouTube trend list, radio, television and even on little pop-up ads that appear on websites. The song went on to receive more than 8 million views in just a day. People can't seem to get enough of this melodious track, and of course, Ranbir's fresh pairing with the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Needless to say, the track set social media trends on fire, and deservingly so.
What's your favourite Ranbir Kapoor track? Leave a comment below or join the conversation on Twitter! And once again, here's wishing Ranbir a fantastic birthday.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
The New Golden Period of Bollywood
Just when I thought Hindi cinema is going through a bad phase, along came directors like Aanand L Rai and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to prove - "Picture abhi baaki hain mere dost". I was tired of watching candyfloss films, especially those without a meaningful script. From the current lot of romantic films, I liked Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (the climax and music of YJHD wins special brownie points). Now, don't get me started on vulgar comedies, because I choose to ignore them for a reason. But this year, a completely different crop of films like Raanjhanaa, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Ship of Theseus made me smile. Not because I have a huge crush on a particular actor or something (that's reserved for Shahid Kapoor), but for assuring film lovers like me that directors today are not shying away from experiments.
