Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 | Outfit Post

A day at the fashion week means choosing the perfect outfit that is not only comfortable (which always tops my priority, since spending long hours hopping from one show to the other is not a joke) but also shows off your style statement. The style that defines your personality. It is very easy to ape people, but standing out of the crowd and making a statement (while being comfortable at the same) ain't an easy task. Over the years, I have understood that while I love experimenting with trends and I am definitely more open to trying different prints and silhouettes, but there are some things which will always be a staple choice. My love for a red lipstick (MAC Ruby Woo to be precise) is just one of them, while pairing shades of blue with white is another. It just reminds me of the infinite sky above us.

Speaking of comfort, what really took the cake this season was the fantastic arrangement made at the Palladium hotel (venue for this year's Lakme Fashion Week) through an exclusive lounge area for bloggers called the LFW Apartment. This cozy apartment on the 27th floor made for the perfect space to unwind, enjoy the breath-taking view, post some live updates and get a gorgeous makeover done, courtesy Bedhead TIGI and Lakme. More details about the apartment will be presented in one of our upcoming posts.

When in doubt, I always opt for a jacket or blazer in bright colours or pretty prints. It can spruce up any outfit. The asymmetrical skirt in this outfit is a favorite, especially because of its color and fit. Don't miss the earrings in the form of a leopard's nail. Such quirky elements in an otherwise simple outfit can turn out to be a head turner.

While most people weren't too happy with the change in venue, I enjoyed my Lakme Fashion Week experience at the Palladium. Though there is no doubt that Grand Hyatt served as the perfect host all these years, the hospitality and warmth of the staff at Palladium Hotel also deserves a mention. They were extremely co-operative and were always around to guide people from the MSA to the Jabong stage or Source. I absolutely love the vintage feel that this hotel offers and yes, travelling was also easier for South Mumbaikars like me.
