Review - Globus (Autumn- Winter Collection 2012)

We have all shopped at Globus, to buy colorful churidars and at times, to buy some quirky accessories. Launched in January 1998, Globus has been around for almost 14 years and now, it operates in more than 30 locations spread across India. Some of their recent stores include one at Kanpur City in Z-Square mall and the other at Pune city in Inorbit mall.

Globus store - Kala Ghoda

Team Globus invited me to the launch of their Autumn Winter collection at the Kala Ghoda store a few weeks back and oh boy! I was impressed with the amazing, huge variety of apparel, accessories, shoes and bags that they had in stock. In one section of the store, they still had some discounted items from the Spring-Summer collection. A member of the marketing team helped me take a tour of the store and our first stop was F-Sixteen, an in-house label which caters to school and college going teenage girls. They had some fun T-shirts, shorts, dresses and tops which are perfect for those awesome days in college when all you wanna do is have fun (and ahem, attend lectures too)! The price range was pretty affordable with most of the stuff available under Rs 1499/-. I particularly loved a pair of denim shorts which was comfortable and perfect for a field trip with classmates.
Globus also has F-21, a label that caters to everyone (Ahem! I am talking about girls). F-21 has colorful denims, tops, T-shirts, shorts, skirts and dresses for every occasion.

Next up was my favorite, the Indian wear section. Globus has always believed in experimenting, when it comes to Indian attire. This season, they have four different categories to choose from, Moroccan Textile, Baandhani to name a few. I loved the Bandhani collection, which has beautiful intricate designs with coin work. They have colorful Kurtas, heavily embellished SKD's, Moroccan style skirts, Baandhani tops and blouses, halter neck kurtas and more. Each category has ethnic wear in different materials, designs, cuts and style. The staff members told me that they will have new stock coming in during the festive season, especially a month before Diwali. Also, they stock up on new styles and SKD's (Salwar, Kameez, Dupatta) every fortnight, so the next time you drop in, you might see something that I didn't!

Then, I moved on to check out some awesometastic accessories, bags and shoes. I already have a list of favorites from their collection. Whether you are a fan of purple, chianti or pink, they will make sure that there is something that is perfect for you. Colorful bangles, rubber-bands, hairbands, trinkets, bracelets etc are stocked up in one section of the store. It makes for a great click as you can see tons of colors stacked up together. On the other side, there are bags in different shapes and sizes. They have clutches, sling bags, shopping bags and more for Rs 899 onwards. In between the two sections, various shoes and sandals by their in-house brand are put up for display. The Kala Ghoda branch of Globus does not sell footwear by other brands. Apart from all this, they also have Formal shirts, trousers and some beautiful dresses, which are perfect for the upcoming festive season.

What to buy: Ethnic wear (especially the lovely kurtas), Colorful clutches, Basic T-Shirts, Colorful denims
What to leave: Some of the regular denims, dresses and tops can be found anywhere, so you can give it a miss, only to make space for the stuff at Globus which is really good!
Rating: 4/5
Dancebee's verdict: After shopping, you will leave the store with a smile on your face :)
